    Description

Director of Philanthropy and Planned Giving

The Seattle Public Library Foundation - Seattle, WA

    Full-time | Exempt | Salary: $100,000-$135,000

Are you a relationship-builder with a passion for community impact? Do you believe in the power of libraries to transform lives? If you're a strategic thinker who thrives on connecting people to purpose, we'd love to meet you!

    ABOUT US

The Seattle Public Library Foundation (SPLF) is the largest public library foundation in the U.S. based on assets under management. Since 1980, we've raised over $261 million to support The Seattle Public Library's mission to expand learning opportunities, build community, and foster access to information. Our team is mission-driven, collaborative, and deeply committed to the future of public libraries.

    A DAY IN THE LIFE

As our Director of Philanthropy and Planned Giving, you'll lead our efforts to inspire transformational giving. You'll manage a portfolio of 100-150 donors, focusing on gifts of $3,000+ and planned giving. You'll also guide our outreach to foundations and corporate partners, ensuring our fundraising efforts are strategic, personal, and impactful.

    You'll spend your days:

    • Building meaningful relationships with donors who love libraries as much as you do.
    • Crafting compelling proposals and stewardship reports that show donors the impact of their generosity.
    • Collaborating with Library staff to identify exciting funding opportunities.
    • Coaching board members and staff to become confident fundraising ambassadors.
    • Leading high-touch, low-volume direct mail campaigns that make donors feel seen and valued.
    • Supporting our Legacy Society and helping donors leave a lasting legacy through estate gifts.

You'll also oversee grant and corporate giving strategies, working with our communications team to create materials that inspire generosity and, with our database team, to track trends and opportunities.

    WHAT YOU BRING

    • A bachelor's degree (master's preferred) or related experience in the philanthropy sector that would demonstrate necessary skills.
    • 5+ years of progressive fundraising experience, with a strong track record in major and planned gifts.
    • Excellent communication skills-written, verbal, and interpersonal.
    • Experience with donor databases (Raiser's Edge preferred) and a love of data-informed strategy.
    • A collaborative spirit and a passion for libraries, equity, and community.

    WHY YOU'LL LOVE WORKING HERE

    We offer:

    • Outstanding benefits: employer-paid medical/dental/vision, HSA contributions, 401(k) with match, disability and life insurance, generous PTO, and a fully paid ORCA pass.
    • A flexible, casual work environment where your contributions are valued.
    • A mission that matters: You'll help ensure that everyone in Seattle has access to the library resources, programs, and opportunities that our neighbors love.
