    JustFaith Ministries ("JFM”) is a national nonprofit inspiring people of faith to build a more just, equitable, and peaceful world. Since its founding in 2001, more than 75,000 alumni have completed JFM small-group programs all over the country, transformed by human connection and deep learning that focuses on issues that shape our world and local communities, including environmental care, poverty, racial justice, immigration, and gun violence, to name only a few.

    JFM seeks a visionary and mission-driven Executive Director with gifts in relationship-building, national audience engagement, and speaking/writing skills to complement existing organizational strengths in operations, fundraising and program quality. This is an opportunity for an experienced leader with a passion for faith-based social justice to guide a national nonprofit with a strong legacy.

    The Executive Director will serve as the public face and strategic leader of JustFaith Ministries, working closely with a talented staff and engaged board to expand the organization’s reach, partnerships, and impact. Key responsibilities include organizational leadership, national outreach and engagement, fundraising support, and strategic marketing. The ideal candidate will be energized by relationship-building, inspired by the Gospel’s call to justice, and equipped to lead a remote team and promote faith-based programs that reach diverse Christian communities across the U.S.

    Job Title: Executive Director

    Classification: Full-time, exempt; 40-hours a week, occasional evening and weekend, travel required.

    Reporting Relationships: Reports to and evaluated by the Executive Committee through the Board co-chairs. Supervises and evaluates the staff (currently 5 full and part-time) with support from the leadership team.

    Location: This is a remote position within the United States.

    Job Description: The Executive Director position requires a mission-focused, energetic and strategy-minded leader with experience. The principal responsibilities include:

    • Executive Responsibilities (35%)
      • Leadership of a high performing team that develops, markets and distributes faith-based justice programs and resources to a nation-wide audience.
      • Maintain a strong working relationship with JFM Board of Directors
      • Participate as member in monthly meetings and annual retreats with the Board
      • Participate in board leadership as member of executive committee
      • Consult with the board on potential candidates for board membership
      • Represent the organization publicly and to all constituencies.
      • Develop strategy for significant organizational growth in collaboration with staff and board.
      • With the support of the Leadership Team
        • Supervise and support staff to effectively lead their areas of responsibility
        • Ensure relevant human resources functions including: training, development, compensation and benefits, employee relations, performance evaluation, and recruiting
        • Manage the annual budgeting process and help ensure fiscal responsibility
        • Direct the implementation of the annual operations plan and budget
        • Cultivate the values of JFM within the organization
        • Manage the performance assessment process that drives, measures, and evaluates progress against goals for the organization
        • Develop, track and report on key performance metrics to help assess the strategic and operational plans and financial health of JFM
    • Outreach and Engagement Responsibilities (55%)
      • Serve as a champion and ambassador for JustFaith Ministries, cultivating relationships with current and potential partners, funders, and program participants.
      • Identify, develop and maintain strategic partnerships with organizations and faith communities.
      • In-person speaking engagements – workshops, presentations, conferences, meetings with current and potential stakeholders – promoting the work of JFM. Significant travel involved.
      • Support Development by building relationships with Major Donors and meeting with donors in person during outreach activities.
    • Marketing Responsibilities (5%)
      • Expand JFM’s impact by overseeing the design and implementation of creative in-person and online marketing strategies that deliver significant year-over-year growth in program participation.
      • Ensure cohesive, consistent, and effective branding and messaging across all internal and external communication vehicles.
    • Programs Responsibilities (5%)
      • Ensure high quality and effective programming.

    Qualifications

    Mission Alignment

    • A demonstrated passion for, and theological grounding in, the social justice message of the Gospel
    • Whole-hearted commitment to JFM’s vision, mission, core values, and identity statements (i.e. Jesus’ teaching on justice and love of neighbor; anti-racism; open & affirming)
    • Familiar and comfortable with reaching audiences from a variety of Christian denominations, including Catholic

    Education and Experience

    • Degree in theology preferred
    • Minimum five years of relevant experience in nonprofit, community service, religious, or educational organizations
    • Experience with building and nurturing relationships with partners and major donors
    • Demonstrated success in the development and execution of effective marketing strategies that reach new target audiences, drive revenue growth and brand recognition.
    • Broad experience with, and a thorough understanding of, the full range of business functions and systems, including strategic development and planning, budgeting, business analysis, finance, information systems, human resources, and marketing.

    • The ability to navigate the complexities and politics of various church structures
    • Willing to travel within the United States, up to 30% time
    • Ability to meet or exceed both mission goals and key financial goals; evidence of the ability to consistently make sound decisions through a combination of analysis, wisdom, experience, and judgment; high level of business acumen including successful P&L management; ability to balance the delivery of programs against the realities of a budget; and problem solving, project management, and creative resourcefulness.
