    Description

    Legal Outreach is searching for a Social Justice and Academic Success Coordinator as part of our team. In this role, the SJAS Coordinator will primarily work with the two student-run councils that are part of Legal Outreach - The Civic Engagement and Social Justice Council and the Freshmen Leadership Institute. As an advisor to these councils, the SJAS Coordinator will be in charge of the recruitment, retention and engagement of all members on key social justice issues identified at the start of each academic year. The Advisor will also work with our Academic Success team to guide students on their high school journey.

    Specific Job Responsibilities

    • Manage daily activities related to council activities and communication
    • Develop programming geared towards developing leadership and organizing skills of students
    • Mobilize students for civic engagement reform within their communities
    • Develop students’ understanding of social justice theory and practice
    • Present workshops in middle schools and high schools to better equip students to know their rights
    • Update and implement lesson plans to ensure student success
    • Meet and track individual student progress in academic endeavors
