    JumpStart Ohio Executive Director

    JUMPSTART Ohio is a Chapter of JUMPSTART, a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to providing a Christian environment for the current and formerly incarcerated allowing them to successfully transition from prison to a productive life. JUMPSTART Ohio disciples current and former prisoners and assists with re-entry to society. We accomplish our mission through Community Partnerships to address the spiritual, educational, employment, healthcare, housing, and family relationship needs.

    LOCATION

    This is a remote role with occasional in-person obligations. Residency in Ohio is required.

    POSITION PURPOSE

    Reporting to the JUMPSTART Ohio Board, the essence of this role is launching an established system proven in other states. This role will be responsible for raising funds to sustain the operations, developing a network of volunteers to run the programming in the prisons, as well as rolling out the programming to more prisons within the state of Ohio. This person needs to have a heart for prison ministry and be comfortable in the prison environment. They need to be able to build report with the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation & Corrections (ODRC) as they are the primary “customer."

    YOUR KNOW-HOW

    • Build, lead, and support JUMPSTART Ohio volunteers and staff and ensure the continued development and management of a professional and efficient organization.
    • Engage and manage relationships with the JUMPSTART Ohio Board and oversee and report on the organization’s results.
    • Develop and oversee the JUMPSTART Ohio Fund Development by obtaining income and in-kind donations from foundations, sponsors, individual patrons and businesses.
    • Excellent analytical abilities that can be applied in aligning the organization's objectives with available funding opportunities.
    • Cultivate and engage an effective volunteer base through JUMPSTART Ohio staff and current volunteers.
    • Significant experience in successfully leading a not-for-profit organization, including a solid track record in fundraising to build JUMPSTART Ohio into a sustainable organization.
    • Hands-on involvement and management of both the inside and outside programs.
    • Extraordinary communications skills, both written and verbal, with a strong ability to effectively present and communicate with audiences of all sizes.
    • Provide leadership in the execution of the strategic direction for JUMPSTART Ohio.
    • Develop and maintain healthy relationships with key city, state, and prison officials, particularly within ODRC, who are vital to JUMPSTART Ohio’s success.
    • Build and maintain a strong network of contacts and partnerships.

    MUST-HAVES

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Management preferred or 7 or more years of nonprofit management experience in an operational environment.
    • Five or more years of management or supervisory experience
    • Reliable transportation with ability to travel to various prisons throughout the State of Ohio.
    • A growing relationship with Christ, demonstrated by a virtuous character and a spirit-filled walk; represents the organization in a way that is Christ-honoring.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
    • Strong communication and presentation skills.
