The WRJ Philanthropy and Database Fellowship is a unique two-year opportunity designed for early-career professionals passionate about feminism, social justice, and the Jewish community. Beginning in 2025, this fellowship offers hands-on experience in fundraising, donor stewardship, and philanthropic operations within a mission-driven, collaborative, and inclusive Jewish nonprofit environment. Working closely with WRJ’s professional staff and lay leadership, the Philanthropy and Database Fellow will help strengthen WRJ’s culture of giving and community through relationship-building, campaign support, and data-informed development strategies. This is an ideal role for someone passionate about Jewish communal life and philanthropy, who is eager to develop skills in donor engagement, nonprofit development, and fundraising communications.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

As a WRJ Philanthropy and Database Fellow, you will contribute to the planning, execution, and evaluation of WRJ’s fundraising initiatives, with a focus on cultivating relationships and sustaining a vibrant donor community. You will gain experience across core areas of development work, from stewardship and events to communications and grants, while helping to advance WRJ’s mission of collective giving and social impact.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

• Campaign Strategy & Support: Contribute to annual campaigns and fundraising initiatives, including the YES Fund, by supporting planning, logistics, and donor communications.
• Donor Engagement & Stewardship: Strengthen relationships with current and prospective donors through personalized outreach, thoughtful communication, and milestone recognition.
• Database Management: Serve as the primary system administrator, ensuring optimal performance and usability. Maintain seamless integrations and data flow between systems. Lead data governance efforts, with a focus on consistency, integrity, and security.
• Donor Data & Reporting: Maintain donor database records, generate reports, and support data analysis to inform fundraising strategies and monitor progress.
• Development Operations & Financial Support: Assist with pledge tracking, reconciliation, and audit preparation, ensuring alignment between fundraising efforts and financial workflows.
• Advance Special Projects & Organizational Goals: Partner with staff and lay leaders on cross-functional initiatives that strengthen WRJ’s development efforts and advance organizational priorities.

WHO YOU ARE

You’re an early-career professional with 1–3 years of experience in nonprofit development, fundraising, or data management. You’re curious, detail-oriented, and values-driven. You bring strong interpersonal skills, a passion for social impact, and a desire to grow in the field of Jewish philanthropy. You thrive in a collaborative, remote environment where relationship-building and mission alignment are central to the work.

KEYS TO SUCCESS (THE MUST-HAVES)

• Relationship-Building & Donor Engagement: You’re skilled at cultivating and deepening relationships with donors and lay leaders through thoughtful communication, consistent stewardship, and a warm, relational approach.
• Project Management & Organization: You can manage multiple priorities and deadlines with precision and care. You bring structure, attention to detail, and follow-through to everything you do.
• Communication & Storytelling: You’re an excellent communicator who can craft clear, compelling messages. You’re comfortable writing for a variety of audiences and creating materials that reflect WRJ’s values and mission.
• Data Management & Analytical Thinking: You’re comfortable using databases (CRM experience preferred), keeping records accurate and up-to-date, and using data insights to inform strategy and measure impact.
• Collaboration & Adaptability: You’re a team player who thrives in a remote work environment. You’re open to feedback, responsive to changing needs, and committed to collective success.
• Mission Alignment: You believe in WRJ’s mission and are passionate about advancing social justice and gender equity. Familiarity with the Jewish community and Reform Judaism is a plus.
