    Job Summary

    TheCommunications Coordinator will collaborate with the MarketingLead to developand execute the strategy for all communications related to social platforms and to consistently articulate CIOGC’s mission. The strategy will support and advance the organization’s mission and vision. The person will executethe development and implementation of CIOGC’s communications strategies related to all digital and social media efforts. The strategy should be developed with input from membersof the Communications team, the Communication Committee, the ExecutiveDirector, and the Director of Operations. As such, this position requires an in-depth knowledge of communications, marketing strategies, social media, and a passion for social advocacy at the local and national levels.

    Essential Job Functions

    • Collaborate with Marketing Lead to developand execute a strategic communications plan.
    • Lead CIOGC’s messaging for multiple communication channels – Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp, YouTube, TikTok,and X.
    • Plan, prepare, publish, and disseminate Council’sinformation both internally and externally (members and public) of the Council’s perspectives, programs, and accomplishments.
    • Work alongside Marketing Lead to prepare written,graphical, audio, and visual marketing material, creativeeditorial, and designservices to supportcommunications to external outlets.
    • Successfully implement via social platforms and weekly newsletters effective branding and delivery of marketing strategies that increase engagement with the Council, its members, and their program areas.
    • Assist the maintenance of the website,including overseeing that the site is up-to-date and as engaging as possible for all Council audiences.
    • Research and study CIOGC’starget audience and explore innovative methods to engage and grow that audience.
    • Create and execute the design of social media campaigns across all platforms, including Facebook, X, Instagram, Snapchat, and WhatsApp.
    • Collaborate on all content creation, including audio, video, and written content for all programs, and workshops.
    • Facilitate the development and execution of promotional materials around events, outreach, and special initiatives.
    • Occasionally assist in office event support as needed.
    • Social Media Coordination
    • Manage, update, and grow all social media accountsdaily with content in alignment with CIOGC’s social media and communications guidelines.
    • Serve as a ContentCreator and Editor,researching, proofreading, and publishing content in the weekly newsletter and other mediums.
    • Establish clear expectations and deadlines for content contributors and follow up as needed to ensure content is created timely and within established communication parameters.
    • Define layout and hierarchy of all digital content through Mailchimp.
    • Collaborate with the Marketing Lead, the ED and DO to create promotional content around events, outreach, and special initiatives to optimize interest,engagement, and attendance.
    • Procure list of volunteers to serve as regular contentcontributors.
    • Beproactive in creating,maintaining, and sharingcontent calendar with other members of CIOGC.
    • Collaborate with staff to brainstorm ideas to improveand innovate ways to engage audience weekly.
    • Reach out to memberorganizations weekly on any upcomingevents and projectsto promote through all mediums, including social media and newsletter.
    • Familiarize and educate others on currenttrends within social media and adapt to those trends.
    • Proactively observe and stay current on events and news shared on CIOGC community groups allowing for insightinto current trendsand events that CIOGC can engage and collaboration in.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in communications, Media Relations, or another relatedfield required.
    • 1-2 Years of experience serving in communications role.
    • Experience withnon-profit, Muslim organizations preferred.
    • Experience with email services, social media platforms, MailChimp, required.
    • Graphic design experience is highly preferred.
    • Self-managed individual with abilityto work independently and as a team.
    • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
    • Knowledge of MicrosoftOffice and Google Suite
