    Description

    Position Profile

    The Dr. Charles van der Horst Water Safety Initiative Dba Swim for Charlie (SFC) is seeking a mission-driven professional to help deliver youth-focused water safety programs which aim to provide the opportunity for every 2nd grade child to be safe in and around the water. The Program Manager will report to the President and be responsible for developing, executing, and evaluating the program, ensuring its success. The responsibilities for this part-time position will include recruiting schools, communicating with school districts, aquatic centers and local communities, and managing the curriculum. Some of the key responsibilities include:

    Program Outreach and Management

    • Implement the SFC strategic program plan and achieve program goals with respect to number of students
    • Market SFC program to potential new schools including giving presentations as needed
    • Work with community leaders, schools, and other groups to maximize SFC success
    • Coordinate with all new and existing schools
    • Organize logistics (days, times, locations) for SFC meetings with schools and parents
    • Working with the school system, secure parental permission for students to participate in the SFC program
    • Enforce all current facility and program policies and procedures and generate innovation and improvement as needed
    • Use PowerPoint to create/update presentations for school and parent meetings

    Curriculum Management

    • Update curriculum as needed to keep aligned with current water safety instruction initiatives
    • Obtain and distribute all learn to swim curriculum materials including instructor manuals and program equipment

    Pool Coordinator Staffing

    • Identify, train and ensure all sites have a designated pool coordinator

    Required Qualifications

    • Passion for SFC mission and the ability to comprehend and effectively communicate issues surrounding water safety for school age children
    • Outstanding communication skills in multiple environments and with a range of audiences
    • Ability to multitask, prioritize and make efficient decisions
    • Flexible and adaptable
    • Excellent attention to details

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience in managing swimming and water safety programs
    • Experience working with a Board of Directors
    • Connections to the local community
