    Description

    Our Organization

    Advocates for the Environment is a public-interest, non-profit environmental law firm and advocacy organization based in Los Angeles. We're focused on climate change, and use both litigation and advocacy to fight it.

    The Job

    The Outreach Coordinator will undertake a variety of tasks to help the environment, including:

    • lobbying for a constitutional right to a clean and healthy environment in California
    • following up on settlements requiring the purchase of carbon offsets to make sure they've been complied with
    • promoting Advocates' climate-ethics substack newsletter
    • reaching out to lawyers in other countries to encourage them to submit abstracts for the session on EIA Litigation at the IAIA conference
    • light paralegal work
    • light general admin work

    Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field such as science, advocacy, or environmental policy
    • Ability to clearly and precisely communicate policy and technical concepts, both in writing and orally.
    • Prior work experience in environmental or social advocacy is a strong plus.
    • Strong ability to use MS Office, Zoom, Acrobat, email.
    • Detail-oriented approach, ability to manage several projects at a time
    • Fluency in English. Fluency in a second language is desired, but not required.

    Particulars

    • Start date: ASAP. We're reviewing applications on a rolling basis.
    • Pay: $32/hour
    • Job is task-based and may be full-time or part-time depending on our needs at the time.

    • Location: remote in California, but we prefer candidates in Los Angeles, to facilitate meeting in person.
