    Description

    Title: Operations and Marketing Coordinator

Reports to: Chief Executive Officer, collaborates with CDO on projects

    Salary Range: $60,000 + performance-based bonus

    EMBARC BACKGROUND

Embarc’s mission is to cultivate post-secondary success by inspiring students to build their social capital, stretch the boundaries of their neighborhood, alter their world view, and seize opportunities in school and life. Embarc is regarded as one of the most exciting nonprofits in Chicago that specializes in combining a robust 3-year curriculum with immersive, hands-on learning experiences that connect students to multiple sectors of the Chicago community to drive academic skills and close the opportunity gap.

Since inception in 2010, Embarc has served nearly 10,000 students who have achieved an average 95% graduation rate and 90% overall postsecondary success. Embarc has grown from serving 25 students in 2010 to nearly 4,000 students in the 2022-2023 school year in 17 high schools across Chicago Public Schools (CPS).

    POSITION OVERVIEW

Embarc is seeking a highly organized, mission-aligned Operations and Marketing Coordinator to support cross-functional priorities in marketing, communications, operations, board engagement, and executive initiatives. This role is ideal for a purpose-driven professional who thrives on executing complex projects, aligning day-to-day activities with long-term goals, and helping teams stay accountable to impact and equity.

The successful candidate will have at least four years of experience supporting nonprofits, education institutions, startups, or other mission-centered organizations. You’ll collaborate directly with the CEO and Chief Development Officer on strategic execution, internal communications, and organizational operations — playing a key role in turning values into action.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    I. Marketing & Communications

    • Support Marketing Plan: Implement a marketing strategy that promotes organizational goals and advances storytelling efforts across key channels.
    • Brand Oversight: Ensure consistency in tone, voice, and visuals across all communications and platforms.
    • Content Creation: Write and publish engaging content (newsletters, blogs, videos, emails, brochures) that highlights Embarc’s impact and mission.
    • Website Maintenance: Keep the website updated with accurate, relevant, and inspiring content.
    • Social Media Management: Coordinate and schedule posts across platforms (Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook), aligned to a content calendar.

    II. Campaign & Event Support

    • Coordinate Campaign Rollouts: Execute multi-platform campaigns including Giving Tuesday, year-end fundraising, and program-specific pushes.
    • Track Campaign Metrics: Monitor and report on engagement data (open rates, CTR, social reach) to refine and improve future efforts.
    • Support Fundraising Events: Assist in integrating annual fund messaging into donor and community engagement events.

III. Auxiliary Board & Volunteer Engagement

    • Auxiliary Board Liaison: Schedule and coordinate meetings, track engagement, and provide communication support for campaigns and “friendraiser” events.
    • Event Coordination: Help plan and execute volunteer-led initiatives that amplify visibility and community connection.

    IV. Operations & Internal Systems

    • Project Coordination: Help manage team task tracking tools (e.g., Asana), shared calendars, and internal workflows to ensure deadlines are met across teams.
    • Process Documentation: Create and maintain internal documents, procedures, and templates to improve team communication and execution.
    • System Support: Work across platforms (CRM, email marketing, cloud storage) to keep records accurate and accessible.

    V. Executive Support Functions

    • Strategic Planning Coordination: Support the CEO and leadership team in preparing and tracking strategic initiatives, OKRs, and impact goals.
    • Board Communication: Assist with board meeting preparation, follow-ups, and ongoing communication; maintain key documents and reports.
    • Culture & DEI Alignment: Help coordinate internal efforts that reinforce organizational values related to inclusion, transparency, and accountability.
    • Internal Reporting: Develop internal dashboards and summaries that track team progress, support board updates, and guide decision-making.

    SKILLS, EXPERIENCES, COMPETENCIES

You’re a collaborative, action-oriented individual with a strong sense of ownership and a deep commitment to social impact. You love coordinating across teams, writing for different audiences, and making systems run more smoothly.

    • 4+ years of relevant experience in nonprofit, education, social enterprise, or mission-aligned corporate sectors
    • Strong writing and editing skills across email, social, web, and print formats
    • Detail-oriented with excellent time and project management skills
    • Familiarity with tools like Google Workspace, Asana, Canva, Constant Contact, or similar
