    The Director of Operations provides leadership and oversight of Healthy Neighborhoods Inc (HNI)

    internal, administrative and operational activities. This is a leadership, supervisory position playing a critical role in supporting the President/CEO and other HNI leadership with overall organizational

    strategy and implementation.

    Roles and Responsibilities

    Position provides leadership and oversight over all HNI operations and participates in establishing the strategic direction of the organization in conjunction with HNI leadership.

    Director of Operations establishes and maintains high-level critical relationships with HNI leadership, Board of Trustees, internal and external stakeholders.

    Director of Operations oversees all aspects of HNI Operations including but not limited to the following content areas:

    • Fiscal management, accounting and audits, taxes and compliance activities,
    • Grants administration, fundraising and grantseeking,
    • Personnel policies and human resources administration,
    • Information technology, facilities, supplies and equipment,
    • Coordination with HNI Board of Trustees, organization communications, and
    • Other duties as arise.

    The position supervises the Operations Team and is also anticipated to have direct delivery responsibilities for one or more of the above areas as determined.

    Director of Operations supports HNI events and organizational activities as needed.

    Position Details and Logistics

    Compensation: Salary is commensurate with experience with anticipated range of $80,000 to $105,000.

    Benefits: HNI has a competitive suite of benefits including medical, dental, and retirement contributions. Staff receive holidays and more than 20 days of leave annually.

    Location: HNI Offices located at 11 East Mount Royal Ave, Baltimore City. HNI is currently 50% on site and 50% remote work.

    Hours: 37.5 Hours per week. 9am to 5pm with half hour break. Position may require occasional afterhours or weekends to support community or HNI activities for which Compensatory Time is available.

    Reporting: Reports to President/CEO. Position will supervise Administrator, Grantwriter/Development Coordinator, Communications Coordinators, contractors, fellows, interns or other personnel.

    Conditions: Position includes routine office environment and conditions. Position includes significant computer usage. Position does not require heavy lifting, routine exposure to inclement weather or hazardous conditions, or the use or handling of hazardous materials.

    Position Requirements

    Expertise and experience in administrative and operational activities including such as those listed above required. Experience in or strong knowledge of nonprofit or public sector preferred.

    Five years plus of related professional experience with progressively increasing levels of responsibility and supervisory responsibility strongly preferred.

    Knowledge and working understanding of community development field is preferred.

    Project management experience and skills needed. Ability to manage overlapping timelines and

    coordinate among multiple collaborators is required.

    Both strong written communication skills and analytical and quantitative skills required.

    Ability to build relationships and communicate effectively with people from a wide range of

    backgrounds.

    Creativity, resourcefulness, flexibility, and a strong team ethic are needed for success at HNI.

    Bachelor’s degree required. Relevant Master’s degree or equivalent preferred.
