    About the Project

Older Americans are increasingly targeted by sophisticated scams, many driven by artificial intelligence and spread on social media platforms. To combat these threats, the Alliance for Retired Americans is launching a 12-month Seniors Fraud & Scams Public Education Campaign beginning in September 2025.

This campaign will raise awareness, share seniors’ personal stories, and build grassroots momentum for accountability measures to protect older Americans. Through national virtual events, town halls, train-the-trainer programs, and collaboration with Alliance state chapters and partners, the campaign will equip retirees with the tools to protect themselves and advocate for systemic change.

This position is ideal for someone passionate about protecting older Americans, experienced in grassroots organizing, and ready to coordinate both digital and in-person events across multiple states.

    The Campaign Coordinator will:

    • Coordinate campaign activities in 10 core states and nationally.
    • Recruit and support storytellers who have experienced scams.
    • Lead a train-the-trainer program to equip local leaders with facilitation tools.
    • Support state chapters in hosting town halls, community meetings, and chapter briefings.
    • Track campaign metrics, gather participant feedback, and provide regular reporting.
    • Assist with earned media (LTEs, op-eds, press outreach)

    Key Responsibilities

    • Event Coordination: Plan and execute national webinars, chapter presentations, and state-based events (virtual and in-person).
    • Training & Support: Develop and deliver training programs for volunteers, staff, and chapter leaders.
    • Story Collection: Identify, interview, and prepare retirees to share their experiences with fraud and scams.
    • Partnership Building: Work with allied senior and aging organizations to broaden campaign impact.
    • Evaluation: Maintain records of participation, media hits, and outreach impact to measure campaign success.

    • Compensation: $6,000/month for a 12-month contract ($72,000 total).
    • Travel Covered: Work-related travel expenses reimbursed.
    • Support Team: Access to ARA staff and state chapters for collaboration.
