    What You’ll Do

      • Lead a dynamic Development and Community Engagement team with trust and collaboration.
      • Oversee all fundraising efforts, including major gifts, annual campaigns, grants, corporate partnerships, and planned giving.
      • Drive marketing and communications strategies that elevate our visibility and brand.
      • Cultivate and steward a portfolio of high-level donors.
      • Collaborate with the President & CEO, Agency Council, and partners to expand our reach and deepen our impact.

      • Salary Range: $115,000 - $125,000, based on experience.

    Hybrid Work Arrangement & Geographic Requirements

    This position offers a hybrid work environment based in Elmira, NY, and requires a minimum of 3 days on-site per week. Candidates must reside in or relocate to our six-county service area (Broome, Chemung, Schuyler, Steuben, Tioga, and Tompkins Counties). Relocation assistance is not provided.

    Job Summary

    The Chief Development Officer (CDO) is a key member of the Senior Leadership Team at the Food Bank of the Southern Tier, an agency of Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Rochester (CCDOR), responsible for leading fundraising, marketing, and communications efforts to advance the organization’s mission and strategic goals. The CDO provides direct leadership to the Development and Community Engagement team and collaborates with the President & CEO, Agency Council, and community partners to drive a strategic culture of philanthropy that inspires a mission-driven commitment to generosity and community impact across the organization. By aligning development initiatives with organizational priorities, the CDO fosters donor engagement, visibility, and stewardship to achieve annual and long-range revenue goals.

    Qualifications

      • Bachelor’s degree; Master’s preferred.
      • 7+ years nonprofit fundraising experience; 3+ years leading teams.
      • Proven success in securing 6-figure gifts and managing budgets.
      • Experience in communications, public relations, and donor engagement.
      • Proven ability to build relationships, lead teams, and drive results.
