    We improve the quality of life, well-being, and dignity of children in the District of Columbia by strengthening, supporting, and empowering foster, adoptive, kinship, and birth families.

    ABOUT THE POSITION

    The AmeriCorps Member Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for recruiting and growing our volunteer base in Washington, DC. In this capacity, they are responsible for developing a robust volunteer program for various FAPAC programs. The AmeriCorps member will leverage at least 75 volunteers who will serve in various programs such as foster parent mentoring, the annual Foster Youth Summit, the Christmas for Kids in Foster Care program, and other engagement activities.

    AmeriCorps is a national service program throughout the United States that engages people of all backgrounds in volunteer work to strengthen communities and address critical needs. The program provides hands-on experience while fostering civic engagement and leadership skills. The program offers the chance to make a meaningful impact, gain valuable professional and personal experience, and develop new skills. Members often receive benefits such as a living allowance, education awards to pay for college or student loans, and opportunities to network and grow professionally. It’s a way to give back, serve communities, and grow personally at the same time.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Adhere to the mission of the organization
    • Adhere to CNCS and ServeDC policies
    • Report to the Executive Director and Operations Manager
    • Recruit, screen, and train volunteers
    • Communicate with stakeholders
    • Assist in recruiting, screening, and onboarding members
    • Assist in special events, programs, and occasionally on weekends
    • Assist in other administrative areas of the organization
    • Manage incoming inquiries about the program
    • Attend AmeriCorps, ServeDC, and government events as requested
    • Maintain volunteer information in the database

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Bachelor's degree in any field
    • Pass background checks
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and Google Drive
    • Tech-savvy
    • Quick learner and motivated!
    • Can-do positive attitude
    • Able to lift at least 30lbs
