    About Kindred Futures

Kindred Futures is a catalytic nonprofit organization committed to building Black wealth through community-rooted strategies and systemic change. We partner with communities, institutions, and change agents to shift economic narratives, invest in equitable capital systems, and accelerate models of shared prosperity across Atlanta and the South. We are powered by relationships, creativity, and bold leadership—guided by the belief that transformative change begins with care, accountability, and collective action.

    Position Summary

The Senior Accounting & Operations Associate is a critical member of Kindred Futures’ Operations & Advancement team, responsible for maintaining the core systems that drive the organization’s internal health and external impact. This cross-functional role touches nearly every part of the organization — finance, HR, executive support, IT, and operations — while enabling the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to lead with focus and effectiveness.

This is a mid-career role designed for a professional who thrives at the intersection of finance, operations, and organizational strategy. The Senior Associate will manage essential functions across accounting, HR support, technology, and executive operations, while also shaping systems and practices that support organizational growth.

We’re looking for someone who can inspire and influence teams through clear communication, thoughtful collaboration, and the ability to lead by example. Your leadership skills will be nurtured by working closely with the Senior Leadership Team and actively driving initiatives that impact the entire organization.

This position is hybrid, with an expectation to be in the Atlanta office three days a week — Monday, Wednesday, and Friday — with flexibility based on organizational needs or personal circumstances. Occasional travel (approximately 10%) is required for events, retreats, or executive support needs.

    Key Responsibilities

    Accounting & Finance

Lead core accounting and financial management processes that ensure Kindred Futures’ fiscal health, compliance, and transparency:

    • Lead day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and expense reporting, ensuring accuracy and alignment with organizational policies.
    • Manage financial reporting and develop dashboards (e.g., budget vs. actuals, cash flow, program expense summaries) to provide actionable insights to the COO, CFO, and Senior Leadership Team.
    • Partner with the finance team to complete month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
    • Track grant budgets and expenditures, preparing detailed grant-specific financial reports to ensure compliance with donor restrictions.
    • Serve as the primary liaison for the annual audit, preparing materials, coordinating documentation, and ensuring smooth collaboration with auditors.
    • Collaborate with leadership to strengthen financial systems, improve processes, and create tools that support organizational sustainability and growth.

    Operations

Drive operational effectiveness across systems, technology, HR support, and logistics to ensure the organization runs smoothly and efficiently:

    • Lead onboarding for new employees, managing system setup, equipment coordination, orientation facilitation, and internal communications that ensure a seamless start.
    • Partner with the HR team to enhance employee engagement processes.
    • Plan and execute Kindred’s annual staff retreat and team-building events, ensuring inclusive, engaging, and well-organized experiences.
    • Manage day-to-day office operations, including vendor relationships, supply inventory, and coordination of organizational resources.
    • Serve as the primary contact for Kindred’s IT vendor, ensuring timely troubleshooting, equipment provisioning, and staff access to tools and systems.
    • Manage travel arrangements through Concur, ensuring bookings align with organizational policies and budgets.
    • Coordinate logistics for organizational events, retreats, convenings and webinars, including planning, materials preparation, and follow-up activities.
    • Maintain Kindred’s shared organizational calendar and manage company bookings at the Russell Innovation Center for Entrepreneurs.
    • Serve as the key administrator for Kindred’s technology tools, including Monday.com, SAP Concur, and Salesforce.

    Leadership Support & Strategy

    • Provide strategic support by preparing executive briefings, financial insights, and operational recommendations that inform decision-making.
    • Provide administrative support to members of the SLT as needed, including scheduling, preparing materials, and coordinating follow-up on organizational priorities.
    • Perform additional duties as needed to meet strategic organizational priorities.

    Qualifications

    • 5–7 years of progressive, mid-level experience in nonprofit finance, operations, or business administration, demonstrating a proven ability to manage cross-functional priorities, partner with senior leadership, and drive organizational improvements.
    • Experience working directly with senior leadership teams or in strategic operations is a plus.
    • Proficiency in QuickBooks Online.
    • Familiarity with project management systems (Monday.com, Asana) and CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce,).
    • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage details while keeping the big picture in focus.
    • Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
    • Experience working collaboratively across departments in fast-paced, mission-driven organizations.

    We’re Looking For Someone Who:

    • Collaborates naturally across teams while confidently owning their work, knowing when to lead, partner, and follow through.
    • Approaches their role holistically, understanding how day-to-day operations influence culture, strategy, and mission success.
    • Is emotionally intelligent, responsive, and reflective in their communication and leadership style.
    • Has a bias for results, anticipating needs and proactively solving problems.
    • Thrives in a hybrid environment, present in-office Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, with flexibility when needed.
    • Is curious, growth-oriented, and committed to continuous learning and organizational care.
    • Shows up activated and ready to make meaningful impact, demonstrating urgency, clarity, and alignment with Kindred’s mission.

    Compensation & Benefits

Salary Range: $75,000 – $85,000, commensurate with experience.

    Benefits include:

    • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage
