CEUS is looking to hire a full-time coordinator who will be the primary worker on a new project that will coordinate the efforts of non-profit and other assistance organizations to provide services to Hudson County community members affected by changes in federal immigration policy.
The Immigrant Support Hub Coordinator will conduct extensive outreach to create a network of organizations and gather grassroots information on the challenges facing effected community members and the organizations that help them. The coordinator will assist in providing services for impacted families, and will work other hubs in other counties to share information and ideas and ways to help the affected community.
The ideal candidate will speak English and a second language, preferably Spanish, and have community organizing and outreach experience. The candidate must be comfortable working with community members of all backgrounds, from mayors and health officials to non-profit executives and front-line workers, and community members from all countries. The candidate should be self-motivated and passionate about helping people, and be eager to reach out and engage community members, whether by phone or in person, from a table in the street to breakfasts and civic events.
MISSION
Centro Comunitario CEUS (CEUS) is a 501c3 non-profit organization formed in 1993 by Central American refugees seeking to organize their community to seek legal status for immigrants. The organization (ceusnj.org) provides affordable immigration legal services, operates a health outreach and referral program with two Community Health Workers (CHWs) and provides information and support on the benefits and protections of New Jersey’s work place rights laws. CEUS programs serve hundreds of individuals each year.
Project Overview
As federal immigration policies change and communities navigate the effects, the program aims to address the need for more centralized coordination and communication among community-based organizations, legal services providers, and government entities in supporting vulnerable families across our state.
CEUS will serve as the Lead Agency in Hudson County, responsible for training and and educating the service providers on challenges that New Americans face as well as plan together on how to respond to urgent needs for support. The predominance of the work will be done by the Immigrant Support Hub Coordinator, with the support of other CEUS workers.
CEUS and similar agencies from other counties will manage and support the work of the hub network, in partnership with the network partner agencies.
