Job description
Beagle Freedom Project, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, is seeking an experienced Rescue, Foster & Adoptions Associate with exceptional customer service skills to join its busy and robust Rescue Department. The Associate should be passionate about animal welfare, strong views against animal testing, have the ability to set and balance priorities with positivity and ease, demonstrate flexibility, and be comfortable handling and lifting dogs of all breeds, cats, rabbits, and other animals including farm animals (up to 50 pounds when needed).

Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in coordinating and participating in small to large-scale animal rescues including hands-on care, release, relocation and translocation.
- Book end-to-end travel for rescues including flights, hotels, and vehicles
- Pack and ship necessary supplies for rescues.
- Research and book local photographers and videographers; provide them with an assignment description and shot list and coordinate the collection or upload of the digital assets.
- Document animal rescue operations; provide detailed log-notes, summarizations, anecdotes, and photos to the Office of the President, social media and rescue manager and rest of team.
- Support growth of BFP’s foster care network and potential adopters; engage and maintain lists.
- Support growth of BFP’s animal foster, adoption and transport network.
- Review foster and adoption applications; conduct phone interviews, home checks and reference checks.
- Facilitate and schedule veterinary visits and transportation for animals in BFP’s foster care network
- Schedule veterinary visits for all animals in BFP’s care; provide any requested documentation for nonprofit discounts and review and pay invoices
- Respond to inquiries about BFP’s Rescue Department via phone, email, and other channels.
- Work with other departments on innovative and strategic ways to engage and support animal rescue, fostering, and adoption.
- Post photos and creative captions of viewable animals on BFP’s website, national pet adoption web sites such as Adopt-a-Pet and Petfinder, and on social media as directed
- Maintaining BFP’s CRM and shared docs.
- Occasionally organize and participate in local adoption events, outreach events, and fundraising projects.
- Help foster a positive work environment in the office and out in the field; and have the excitement, desire, and passion required for this role.
- Any other duties assigned by the Office of the President, Vice President or Rescue Manager.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years experience in hands-on animal care and animal rescue field.
- Must be able to safely lift up to 50 pounds and follow personal and animal care safety protocols.
- Must have basic veterinary knowledge and be able to identify conditions such as emaciation, worms, fleas, ticks, lethargy, etc., and comfortably and safely administer medication.
- Exceptional communication skills (verbal, written, and electronic).
- Outstanding interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrate a high level of professionalism; ability to manage sensitive issues with diplomacy and confidentiality.
- Innovative and strategic thinker.
- Proficient with MS Office - Outlook/Work/Excel/PowerPoint; Google Drive.
- Ability to successfully multi-task, meet deadlines, and manage multiple and often changing priorities and issues of varying complexity.
- Excellent at problem-solving, taking initiative, and being very resourceful.
- Willingness to travel (10% of the year), work multipliable time zones and on some weekends and evenings with short notice; flexibility is a must.
- General knowledge of animal protection issues.
- Ability to effectively communicate Beagle Freedom Project’s mission and objectives.
- Must have a dependable vehicle, insurance, and good driving record.
