    RESCUE ASSOCIATE WITH BEAGLE FREEDOM PROJECT, A NON-PROFIT 501(C)(3) ORGANIZATION

    Location: Remote; must be based in Los Angeles, CA, USA.

    Position Summary:

    Beagle Freedom Project, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit advocacy and animal rescue organization, is seeking an experienced and passionate Rescue Associate to join our robust Rescue (Adopt, Foster, Lifesaving Programs) Department. The Rescue Associate should have experience within private, nonprofit, and/or municipal animal sheltering, welfare, or advocacy organizations, and possess a strong understanding of rescue operations such as animal intake, placement, foster coordination, adoption processes, and transport logistics. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and compassionate, able to manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced environment, and comfortable handling and working with animals of all types. Candidates must demonstrate an in-depth understanding of animal rights and welfare principles, a commitment to ending animal exploitation, and strong communication skills to effectively educate and engage fosters, adopters, and the public in support of Beagle Freedom Project’s mission to end animal testing.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Coordinate all aspects of animal rescue and placement: intake, rehabilitation, transport, foster placement, adoption, sanctuary, for animals liberated from experimentation or rescued other forms of abuse/exploitation.
    • Organize and oversee rescue missions and release events, from small individual shelter intakes to large-scale laboratory releases, including logistics, supplies, animal handling, relocation/translocation, and detailed planning of all factors involved.
    • Document Rescue Department operations across BFP’s CRM systems (ShelterLuv, NationBuilder) through detailed notes, digital assets, anecdotes, and summaries; provide updates and reports to The office of the President, Vice President, Rescue Manager and cross-department teams.
    • Support the growth and engagement of BFP’s foster and adoption networks by managing onboarding, communications, and ongoing relationships with both current and potential BFP fosters and adopters.
    • Facilitate veterinary care for BFP animals by booking appointments, tracking medical status and needs, and working with veterinary clinics across the U.S. to ensure accurate documentation and billing.
    • Respond to public inquiries about BFP’s Rescue Department, objectives, and mission via phone, email, and other channels.
    • Collaborate with other departments on innovative and strategic initiatives that support BFP’s mission which may include participating in various outreach and fundraising activities as needed.
    • Foster a positive, team-oriented work environment in both office and field settings, bringing passion and dedication to the role.
    • Other duties as assigned by the Rescue Manager, Vice President, or Office of the President.

    Qualifications & Requirements:

    • Minimum 2 years experience working within a private, nonprofit, and/or municipal animal sheltering, welfare, or advocacy organization as an employee or volunteer.
    • Ability to successfully multi-task, meet deadlines, and manage multiple and often changing priorities and projects of varying complexity.
    • Must have an understanding of animal rights principles and animal protection issues, specifically pertaining to BFP’s mission to end animal testing.
    • Must have basic veterinary knowledge to effectively coordinate animal medical care.
    • Exceptional communication skills (verbal, written, and electronic).
    • Outstanding interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to effectively communicate Beagle Freedom Project’s mission and objectives.
    • Demonstrate a high level of professionalism; ability to manage sensitive issues with diplomacy and confidentiality.
    • Must be highly skilled in problem-solving, strategic-thinking, resourceful in overcoming challenges, and proactive in taking initiative.
    • Proficient in MS Office - Outlook/Work/Excel/PowerPoint; Google Drive. Proficiency in ShelterLuv is a huge plus!
    • Must be able to safely lift up to 50lbs and comfortable interact with non-human animals of varying species and backgrounds.
    • Must have a dependable vehicle, insurance, and good driving record.
    • Willingness to travel (10% of the year), work multipliable time zones, and on some weekends and evenings with very short notice; flexibility is a MUST.
