Facing History & Ourselves uses lessons of history to challenge teachers and their students to stand up to racism, antisemitism, and other forms of bigotry and hate.

Millions of educators come to facinghistory.org to find accessible and trustworthy resources. We are seeking an impassioned product leader to help those educators more easily find what they need, as well as to help us create new valuable features and experiences.

    Position Description

The Sr. Director, Digital Product is a strategic leader who will drive the vision, strategy, and execution of our digital experience that serve Facing History’s diverse audience of educators, students, and supporters. This role combines hands-on product management work with team leadership responsibilities, overseeing a cross-functional team of designers, researchers, engineers, and analysts.

You will lead product strategy and roadmap development while managing a team of 4-5 direct reports, including leaders of design, engineering, project management, analytics and customer support. Working at the intersection of user needs, organizational mission, and technical capabilities, you will ensure that our website drives meaningful engagement and supports Facing History’s educational impact. As part of the Technology team, you’ll join a culture that values flexibility, a growth mindset, and humor as we navigate the organization’s evolving needs.

This role requires strong data literacy and analytical thinking, as you will be partnering with a data analyst to improve our data infrastructure and using insights to inform product decisions and measure success.

    Who You Are

You are a strategic thinker and empathetic leader who thrives when building digital products that create meaningful impact. You consistently demonstrate accountability, resilience, and a commitment to building trust and strong relationships across diverse stakeholders. You have a passion for both the craft of product management and the art of team leadership, seamlessly moving between hands-on product work and people management.

You approach challenges with curiosity and rigor. You’re a natural prioritizer, have great instincts when it comes to what matters, and have made tough but smart trade-offs. You know timelines matter, but delivering outcomes matters more.

You are a collaborative leader who empowers others to do their best work. Your team management style balances mentorship and accountability, creating an environment where diverse perspectives are valued and team members can grow in their careers. You understand that great products come from great teams, and you invest in both.

You are committed to equity and inclusion, embedding these principles into every aspect of your work. You bring a balance of strategic vision, technical acumen, and a people-first approach to everything you do.
