    For over twenty years, Day One has been the only organization in New York devoting it’s full resources to preventing and responding to intimate partner and other forms of gender-based violence among young people. Day One partners with New Yorkers 24 and under through preventive, education, supportive services, legal advocacy and leadership development. Our multi-disciplinary approach brings together a highly collaborative staff with expertise in legal assistance, social services, and education service provision. Through the Training Team, Day One educates young people in schools and youth programs about gender-based violence equipping them with the skills they need to build equitable, peaceful, consent-driven relationships. Day One recognizes that anti-violence work is emotionally demanding and professionally complex.     Job Summary

    Day One seeks a licensed master’s social worker to join our RAPP Team as a full-time Relationship Abuse Prevention Program (RAPP) Coordinator. The position will be based at CTEA High School (High School for Construction Trades, Engineering & Architecture) located in Ozone Park, Queens.

    The RAPP Coordinator will provide the following teen dating violence prevention and intervention services at their high school:

    • Trauma-informed individual and group counseling
    • Preventive and informative workshops on teen dating abuse and relationship wellness
    • Participate in the recruitment and selection of the summer peer leadership institute
    • Develop and facilitate prevention education workshops during the academic year and during SPLI
    • Professional development for teachers and school staff
    • Community outreach to youth, caregivers, and community members

    As a full-time employee of Day One, the RAPP Coordinator will be assigned to a New York City high school where they will provide direct services to students Monday-Thursday. On Fridays, RAPP Coordinators work out of the Day One office in lower Manhattan for supervision and team meetings.

    Responsibilities of the RAPP Coordinator include but are not limited to the following:

    • Develop and deliver classroom workshops on healthy relationships, dating abuse, consent and coercion, and other relevant topics.
    • Develop and deliver training for caregivers, community members, and school-based professionals.
    • Deliver trauma-informed and anti-oppressive counseling to individuals and groups affected by dating violence.
    • Collaboratively coordinate and facilitate the Summer Peer Leadership Institute, a 7-week intensive training program for high school youth to learn leadership and advocacy skills.
    • Coordinate outreach, scheduling, and partnership with community-based organizations
    • Participate in clinical supervision
    • Work with Day One staff to determine program direction and expansion, including participating in strategic planning and program evaluation activities
    • Represent Day One at community-based events, panels, conferences, and occasional media opportunities
    • Assist in tracking program data and service deliverables
    • Effectively manage program budget
    • Availability for occasional evening or weekend meetings or presentations
    • Other related duties as assigned
    • *Required Qualifications**
    • Master’s degree in Social Work **LMSW required within the first 6 months of hiring**

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Ability to provide counseling and/or facilitation in additional languages
    • At least one year of experience providing direct services to adolescents with various social locations (ex., race, ethnicity, ability, sexuality, gender, religion, socioeconomic level, housing status, immigration status, criminal justice involvement, foster care involvement, etc.)
    • Knowledge in any or all of the following areas:
      • the dynamics of relationship violence
      • the current anti-violence/gender-based violence landscape
      • youth development
      • prevention education
      • workshop facilitation
    • Assist in tracking program data and service deliverables
    • Effectively manage program budget
    • Availability for occasional evening or weekend meetings or presentations

    Salary and Benefits

    The salary range for the position of RAPP Coordinator is $65,000 – $76,000. Day One offers a benefits package that includes health, dental, vision, 401 (k) with match, life insurance, flexible spending accounts, and vacation. Additionally, clinical supervision hours will be provided by an LCSW.
