    Description

    Inside Climate News is seeking to hire a Prospect Research and Impact Analyst to support the fundraising operations of the organization. This role will identify, research, and analyze prospects for gift cultivation and solicitation, and work collaboratively with the development team to generate impact reports for individual and institutional donors. This is a new position on a growing team with room for advancement.

    Job Description

    The Prospect Research and Impact Analyst is responsible for finding potential donors, assessing their capacity and inclination to support ICN, and helping the development team cultivate and solicit donations. Key responsibilities include preparing donor profiles and wealth reports, utilizing prospect research tools, collaborating with the development team, tracking outcomes and impact, and managing prospect information within a donor database.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Proactively search for new potential donors using various resources, including databases, wealth screening tools, and online searches
    • Conduct thorough research on prospects to gather information on their financial capacity, philanthropic interests, business and professional affiliations, and connections to the organization
    • Synthesize research findings into detailed donor profiles, wealth estimates, and prospect briefings for the development team
    • Gather data on various aspects of ICN’s impact: publications, partnerships, traffic, etc.
    • Create reports and other tools to communicate impact data to internal and external stakeholders
    • Maintain and update prospect information in Salesforce and other data management tools
    • Work closely with the development team to develop prospect strategies, manage portfolios, and move prospects through the fundraising cycle
    • Track news and periodicals for relevant prospect-related data and stay updated on industry standards and ethical guidelines
    • Other related duties as requested

    Like the rest of ICN’s staff, this position will work remotely.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree and demonstrated experience in prospect research and fundraising
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills to prepare clear, concise reports and effectively present information
    • Excellent research skills, creative problem solving skills, and intellectual curiosity
    • Ability to interpret complex biographical and financial information and translate it into actionable insights
    • Strong organizational skills and careful attention to detail
    • Familiarity with fundraising processes, fundraising cycles, and a strong desire to learn more
    • Experience in managing data, records, and spreadsheets, as well as using Salesforce
    • Ability to work collegially, independently, and proactively, with a desire to learn

    Compensation

    Salary range: $65,000-$75,000 per year, commensurate with experience. Benefits package includes medical, dental, and vision insurance plans; 401k matching; and generous paid time off.
