    Description

    Founded in 1952, One Institute is the oldest active LGBTQ+ organization in the country, dedicated to telling LGBTQ+ history and stories through education, arts, and social justice programs. As the independent community partner of ONE Archives at the USC Libraries, we promote the largest collection of LGBTQ+ materials in the world.

    The Director of Public Programs oversees the creation, implementation, promotion, and evaluation of One Institute’s Public Programs, including STORIES: The AIDS Monument (in partnership with the City of West Hollywood), Circa: Queer Histories Festival during LGBTQ+ History Month (October), Archival Exhibitions, and other public programs held throughout the year, including Pride Month. The position is responsible for the direction of the long-range planning for One Institute’s public programs, including creating and managing departmental budgets, supervising Public Program staff and interns, maintaining community partnerships, program evaluation, and data management.

    The role will also design and implement HIV/AIDS related arts and educational programs to take place at STORIES: The AIDS Monument site in West Hollywood Park throughout the year, including monthly docent tours, Pride month (June), LGBTQ+ History Month (October), and World AIDS Day (December 1). The Director of Public Programs reports to the Executive Director and supervises the Exhibitions and Public Programs Manager.

    The position is hybrid (3 days in-office in Hollywood). Work must be performed in or near Los Angeles, CA. Submissions close December 15, 2025, at 5 p.m.
