    About Global Greengrants Fund:

Global Greengrants Fund supports grassroots activists and civil society organisations around the world working to address environmental and social justice in over 160 countries. Global Greengrants applies a participatory and decentralised model in making grants to grassroots groups through regional and thematic boards of advisors, global partner networks, and partner funds, to support grassroots environmental and social justice action. Global Greengrants Fund believes solutions to environmental harm and social injustice come from people whose lives are most impacted. Every day, our global network of people on the frontlines and donors comes together to support communities to protect their ways of life and our planet. Because when local people have a say in the health of their food, water, and resources, they are forces for change.

Global Greengrants Fund comprises two organisations located in the USA, Global Greengrants Fund Inc. (established in 1993), and Global Greengrants Fund UK (established in 2012). The two organisations work closely together with a shared grantmaking programme and strategic collaboration at the senior leadership level.

In 2025, Global Greengrants Fund is amid a transformative journey in which we collectively centre our values, including diversity, equity, and inclusion and organisational care in our work, and to rediscover our identity and potential after 30 years of work. The Operations Manager needs to understand the challenges and opportunities that come with these transformations and be able to remain flexible, steady, and adaptable.

    The role:

Global Greengrants Fund is looking to hire a passionate individual who will play a key role in collaborating across teams and our network to carry out Global Greengrants’ operational effectiveness. The Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring that the organization’s internal operations are aligned, effective, and support the broader strategic goals of the fund. This role is central to creating and maintaining efficient systems and processes that promote collaboration between all areas of the organization and our global network of advisors.

The Operations Manager will be a key resource to the Director of Operations by helping to uphold internal standards, coordinate with system leads, and facilitate a responsive operating environment. Their role involves both independent execution and close collaboration with teams to ensure our operational infrastructure is legally compliant, practical, and people-centered.

In the present accountability structures, the Operations Manager is line-managed by the Director of Operations. The Operations Manager supports cross-functional alignment, operational project coordination, and continuous improvement of internal tools and workflows. They will help lead and monitor organization-wide initiatives that enhance our collective functionality while centering collaboration, clarity, and organizational care.

    The candidate profile:

The successful applicant will have significant relevant experience in operations, compliance, or administration within nonprofit, international, or social justice organizations, particularly those working in environmental, feminist, gender, Indigenous, or human rights contexts. They demonstrate strong knowledge of internal systems design, compliance practices, and cross-functional coordination. They have a proven ability to develop, implement, and improve workflows, policies, and operational tools that strengthen organizational alignment and efficiency.

They have substantial experience supporting internal compliance and risk management processes, including procurement, contracting, and policy implementation, with a strong understanding of IRS regulations under the US and HMRC and Charity Commission regulations in the UK. They are skilled in managing platforms such as Rippling, Egnyte, Trello, and SmartSimple, and are able to support the architecture, implementation, and optimization of such tools across departments.

They demonstrate excellent administrative and organisational skills, and the ability to ensure accuracy of work and demonstrate precise attention to detail. They will have skills to give, receive, and work with feedback constructively. They will demonstrate abilities to create a values-aligned environment of trust, equity, and accountability in our work and mission. They also thrive in a virtual environment, motivated to take on challenges and collaboratively find innovative and creative solutions. Multiple language skills would be ideal, while English fluency is a must.

The right candidate will understand Global Greengrants’ core values and be committed to the guiding principles and mission of Global Greengrants, and ensure they uphold them in the way they take up the responsibilities of the role. Familiarity with social and environmental justice movements and relevant frameworks would be an advantage.
