    ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION

    Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders for Civic Empowerment (AAPI FORCE) is a statewide network that is dedicated to strengthening and expanding democracy, while growing the political participation of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. Together, we fight to make sure our communities’ voices are heard across California.

    POSITION OVERVIEW

    Canvassers will be part of a team of outreachers talking to voters on the phone and door to door in the Alhambra community to inform them about the upcoming special election on November 4th, on Proposition 50. We will be building relationships with community members and identifying supporters who are interested in getting involved with our organization and work. Canvassers will directly report to the Staff Team Lead who will provide supervision.

    • Canvassing (In-person)
      • Wednesday - Oct 15th, 2025 - 2:30-7pm
      • Thursday - Oct 16th, 2025 - 2:30-7pm
      • Saturday - Oct 18th, 2025 - 10:00am-2:30pm
      • Sunday - Oct 19th, 2025 - 10:00am-2:30pm
    • Phone Bank (remote)
      • Monday - Oct 20th, 2025 - 3:30pm-8pm
    • Debrief (remote)
      • Thursday - Oct 23rd, 2025 - 3:30-4:30pm
    • Optional - Volunteer Appreciation Day - Saturday November 1, 2025

    This position will work out of Alhambra neighborhood; [Hybrid work schedule of 3 days in-person / 2 days work from home ]

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Must attend a mandatory orientation and training on Tuesday October 14 (will be compensated).
    • Must follow a script and provide accurate information to residents
    • Must be able to converse with residents in English AND Cantonese/Mandarin
    • Must agree to meet the required number of contacts (phoning and/or canvassing).
    • Must arrive at the canvassing location on the correct date and time and canvass during the designated times.
    • Must have access to and be able to use a cellphone and computer to accurately record responses.
    • Must be able to read a map on the canvassing app.
    • Must have strong verbal communication skills as well as interpersonal communication skills; maintaining a positive and enthusiastic attitude.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Strong oral communication skills on the phone and in person
    • Basic skills with technology in order to submit information about canvassing
    • Ability to work respectfully with people from diverse backgrounds
    • Ability to commit to part time work during the campaign
    • Previous experience in canvassing preferred, but not required
    • A passion for social justice issues and advocating on AAPI community issues
    • Ability to work well with a team, take direction and feedback, and share skills and knowledge, and have a positive attitude

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Canvassers who use their own cell phone and data for outreach.
    • Canvassers with a valid driver’s license, proof of insurance and reliable transportation.
    • Having your own transportation is preferred.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    Able to work on a computer including sitting at a desk for extended periods of time with or without reasonable accommodation; manual dexterity to operate a keyboard; able to see or read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; able to speak clearly and in audible tones on the phone and in-person and be understood by others; able to hear and understand speech, including on the phone; able to understand and follow oral and written instructions; able to occasionally lift objects weighing up to 10 pounds, etc. Must be able to stretch, bend, kneel, twist, squat, reach above or below the shoulder, push, grasp, and lift up to 20 pounds. able to walk, drive, write, stand, and sit. Ability to walk for at least 3.5 hours daily to canvass door-to-door.

    EMPLOYMENT TERMS

    These are temporary part-time positions with no benefits except those required by law, with a $28 hourly rate, with up to six openings. This position is non-exempt. This position is roughly 18 hours per week.

    Level of Language Proficiency

    Must be fluent in Cantonese or Mandarin.
