    Description

Raise The Barr is a 2Gen program led by a 2Gen team on a mission to maximize the potential of every individual.

Co-Founded by NFL linebacker Anthony Barr and his mother Lori Barr in 2016, Raise the Barr is committed to increasing opportunity and economic mobility for single-parent students in Minnesota and California by providing them with the holistic resources they need to complete their education, including resources they need for their children to thrive. Promoting college success among student-parents is critical to improving racial, ethnic, and gender equity in higher education access.

Raise the Barr places single-parent students at the center of our work, and as such identifies every opportunity to elevate their voices in advocacy work and to advise the leadership team.

Are you passionate about educational equity and eager to help single-parent students thrive? Do you thrive in a fast-paced, mission-driven, start-up-like environment? Raise The Barr is looking for a flexible and compassionate professional to join our growing team and provide high-impact, personalized support to student parents.

    Responsibilities

    • Provide monthly one-on-one coaching to single-parent scholars
    • Co-design and facilitate monthly workshops focused on parenting, academics, career planning, and wellness
    • Hold office hours and build strong, trust-based relationships with scholars
    • Help develop evolving programming and real-time solutions in collaboration with leadership
    • Help scholars navigate community resources and campus supports
    • Track progress and share data-driven insights to improve scholar support
    • Serve as a local ambassador for RTB in the community

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience), ideally in Social Work, Counseling, or Education
    • 2+ years supporting families facing poverty
    • Strong communication, coaching, and time management skills
    • High degree of adaptability and comfort with ambiguity.
    • Composed, tactful, and solution-oriented when under pressure.
    • Leads with a trauma informed approach.
    • Commitment to equity, whole-family wellness, and inclusion
    • Highly organized, self-motivated, and detail-oriented

    Why This Role Is Unique:

    • You’ll be part of a small, fast-moving team where your voice shapes real-time programming decisions.
    • You’ll work closely with senior leaders and scholars to co-create a thriving scholar experience.
    • The heart of your work is direct service; office hours and workshops are opportunities to deepen connection and expand impact beyond your core caseload.
    • This is not a plug-and-play job - it’s a role for someone who wants to make things better every day and believes in continuous improvement.

    Schedule & Structure:

Hybrid role with some required in-person activities and occasional evening/weekend hours. Flexibility is offered to balance these commitments. This role is through June with the possibility of a full-time permanent position.
