THE CHISHOLM LEGACY PROJECT SUMMARY:
The mission of the Chisholm Legacy Project is rooted in the Just Transition Framework. The project serves as a vehicle to connect Black communities on the frontlines of climate justice with resources to traverse the path from vision to strategy to action plan to implementation to transformation. In support of frontline leadership, the project seeks to link movements and mainstream entities with the tools necessary to advance systems change centered in equity and justice. With Black women on the frontlines of advancing systems change, this project ensures that these leaders have the support they need as they transform society from extractivism to a living economy that cares for sacred relationships between people and with Mother Earth, through regenerative, cooperative, democratic systems.
SUMMARY OF THE POSITION:
The organization seeks a BLJTI Manager with a commitment to supporting Black Liberation and a willingness to be on a learning journey joining an institution that is grounded in Black Liberation, Climate Justice, and Just Transition. The central focus is supporting the development and implementation of the Black Liberation and Just Transition Institute. Building on the existing certification programs, the BLJTI Manager will help to administer the production of training curriculum and educational materials to ensure that we deliver our content in the most effective, consumer-friendly manner possible. The BLJTI Manager will work with the Associate Director of the BLJTI and the Senior Director of Programs to orchestrate various training and convenings. We are looking for a talented systems-thinker, who is passionate about the civil and human rights of all people.
The ideal candidate is a stellar interpersonal communicator and enjoys rolling up their sleeves and jumping in on complex projects. The BLJTI Manager will focus on supporting the creation, implementation, and oversight of the Black Liberation and Just Transition Institute.
This is a six (6) month temporary full-time position with the potential of becoming a regular full-time position. It will report to the Senior Director of Programs.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
BLJTI Program Development and Management
- Support the Black Liberation and Just Transition Institute team with the development of an overarching, cross-cutting strategy for strengthening the Chisholm Legacy Project’s capacity in writing and training, ensuring alignment with community needs according to the Black Liberation and Just Transition framework. Collaborate with the Associate Director of the BLJTI to ensure accessibility and effectiveness of educational materials.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to develop and review course materials, including lectures, assessments, and supplementary resources to ensure they align with the mission and vision of TCLP.
- Oversee the selection and maintenance of the online learning management system (LMS), ensuring a seamless user experience for participants.
Implementation and Execution of the BLJTI Program
- Collaborate with TCLP team members to coordinate the rollout of the certification program, including setting up programs, enrolling participants, and managing scheduling.
- Monitor and assess program delivery to ensure high-quality content and effective teaching methods are consistently applied.
- Provide technical assistance to participants, troubleshooting any issues related to the online platform or course materials.
Participant Support, Engagement and Outreach
- Offer guidance and support to participants throughout their certification journey, addressing questions, concerns, and providing feedback.
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance participant engagement and retention, including interactive activities and community-building initiatives.
- Support the development and execution of an outreach and engagement strategy, including the development of key contacts and partnerships to recruit and retain participants with the goal of increasing enrollment and fostering matriculation through various phases of the program.
Assessment and Improvement
- Develop and maintain a data collection system reviewing the system of continuous improvements in how data is collected, stored and analyzed.
- Assist with the design of assessments to measure program effectiveness, ensuring the integrity and entry of data, including participant progress and retention, course outcomes, and overall satisfaction. Collaborate with the team to ensure that target outcomes meet the needs of the program and the constituents we serve.
- Use feedback and performance data to make ongoing improvements to the program, updating content and delivery methods as needed.
Collaboration and Communication
- Work closely with speakers and TCLP staff to ensure cohesive program development and execution.
- Support in maintaining partner lists with contacts and actively refer and facilitate connections with community members and contributors to the certification institute.
- Collaborate with key people to ensure accessibility and effectiveness of educational materials including Toolkits, Fact Sheets, etc., to ensure they are as user-friendly as possible for our constituency.
Reporting and Administration
- Collaborate with the Associate Director of Certification Institute to create an evaluation framework in the popular education strategy and plan.
- Maintain accurate records of program activities, participant progress, and certification outcomes.
- Collaborate with the team to ensure that the target outcomes meet the needs of the program and the constituents we serve.
- Prepare and present regular reports on program performance, including metrics on enrollment, completion rates, and participant feedback for internal use.
- Develop thorough reports institute activities and outcomes during team meetings for Board of Directors reports, weekly reports, annual reports, grant reports, etc.
Develop a Partnerships with Historically Black Universities and Colleges and other post-secondary institutions Universities to Hire Interns or Fellows
- Supervise the BLJTI Interns and Fellows developing job descriptions and work plans, assigning tasks, providing leadership and mentoring, and providing direction and support in the execution of day-to-day tasks.
Compliance and Standards
- Ensure the program complies with relevant regulations, accreditation standards, and best practices in online education.
- Uphold high standards of integrity in all aspects of program management and participant interactions.
Perform additional responsibilities as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience managing learning management systems and adult education programs.
- A passion and commitment to and experience with advocating for progressive policies and programs, and for eliminating policies and practices that lead to racial and ethnic disparities.
- Experience with and passion for environmental and climate justice.
- A successful track record in setting priorities along with keen analytic, organizational, problem- solving, and decision-making skills.
- Track record of success managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with an ability to prioritize, negotiate, and collaborate with various internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly to all team members, upper management, and stakeholders.

POSITION TERMS
- This position is a six (6) month temporary (with potential for permanent hire) and is full time, expected to work a 40- hour work week.
- This position is classified as exempt.
- Ability to participate in TCLP benefits including by not limited to employer paid medical, dental, and vision benefits.
- This position will receive a 90-day (about 3 months) performance review.
- Ability to travel upon request; in addition to traveling to in-person meetings for the organization including but not limited to 2 to 3 staff retreats a year.
- Position will be required to engage with a TCLP community once a quarter.
