    ORGANIZATIONAL DESCRIPTION

    The National Health Care for the Homeless Council (the Council) is the premier national organization working at the nexus of homelessness and health care. Since 1986, we have brought together thousands of health care professionals, medical respite care providers, people with lived experience of homelessness, and advocates. Our Organizational Members include Health Care for the Homeless health centers, respite programs, and housing and social service organizations across the country.     JOB SUMMARY

    In partnership with other NHCHC staff, the Senior Grants Manager will oversee the entire grant lifecycle, including identifying funding opportunities, preparing and submitting applications, managing grant budgets, ensuring compliance with funder requirements, tracking progress, preparing progress reports, and managing the award closure process. This position will have the opportunity to work across the organization with program teams and in collaboration with agency finance, research and administrative functions.

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (95%)

    • Maintain grant compliance and reporting with external funders for agency grants, including outcome measurement and grant budgets—taking responsibility for meeting high standards of effectiveness, timeliness, and completeness.
    • In collaboration with the program teams and the Finance team, coordinate the preparation of grant reports required by external funders.
    • In collaboration with the program and impact teams, coordinate the analysis of grant data to track progress.
    • In collaboration with the Finance team, monitor disbursements from external funders.
    • Upon award of a new grant, assemble appropriate internal team members to ensure everyone understands responsibilities, reporting requirements, evaluation components and methodology, deliverables, etc.
    • In collaboration with the development colleagues, support creation of a strategic plan to secure funding from private and corporate foundations and government sources to support the Council’s revenue goals, working closely with program staff.
    • Support development colleagues in identification and research of grant opportunities and help analyze the fit for the Council.
    • As warranted, initiate the design/redesign, implementation and sustainment of workflows and systems that support grants management across the agency.
    • Participate in regular (monthly or quarterly) grant budget review meetings between Finance and program teams.
    • In Coordination with Administration, develop, implement, and monitor sub-granting and data use agreements.
    • Coordinate/support grant writing teams in preparing new proposals. Includes gathering letters of support from partners, creating a library of language for funding proposals.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    GENERAL AGENCY DUTIES (5%)

    • Foster an environment that promotes trust and cooperation among all Council teams.
    • Attend staff meetings and retreats.
    • Participate in agency functional teams and ad-hoc committees.
    • Represent the Council in meetings and conferences, as appropriate.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

    • Bachelor’s degree required; master's degree preferred.
    • 5+ years of experience in nonprofit grant and proposal writing, grants management, and coordination of grant submissions (both government and private.)
    • Strong understanding of grantmaking processes and procedures, including financial reporting.
    • Possess ability to assess, prioritize, and manage a varied and demanding workload under pressure and with tight deadlines, while maintaining a high bar for quality.
    • Proven experience in program evaluation.
    • Possess excellent written and verbal communications skills.
    • Possess excellent creative problem-solving and leadership skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Able to express the mission and values of the National Health Care for the Homeless Council through actions in their work.
    • Proficiency with MS Office.
    • Experience with project management tools (e.g. Smartsheet, Monday, etc.)
    • Experience with CRM technology preferred (e.g., Salesforce, NEON, Raiser’s Edge, etc.)
    • Must be able to embrace differences among people and be able to interact with internal staff as well as external contacts in a culturally competent and respectful manner.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORKING CONDITIONS

    • Available for travel within the U.S. approximately 2-3 times a year, or more frequently, depending on location.
