    Description

    The Community Foundation of South Jersey (CFSJ) is developing a fellowship initiative to pair the talents of older adults with non-profits in the eight-county South Jersey region. The Senior Fellow will work with CFSJ staff to develop the initiative, solicit non-profit partners to host CFSJ Encore Fellows, and help recruit an initial class of Encore Fellows. The CFSJ Encore Fellows are placed with non-profits in the region that recognize the value of experienced workers and successfully apply to the Community Foundation of South Jersey to bring a CFSJ Encore Fellow into their team.

    Working with CFSJ staff, the Senior Fellow will manage administrative and programmatic functions for the CFSJ Encore Fellows Initiative. This work includes identifying and engaging host non-profits; recruiting, onboarding, and supporting CFSJ Encore Fellows; and advocating for the CFSJ Encore Fellows Initiative.

    Lead the Administrative and Programming Function for the CFSJ Encore Fellows Initiative

    Specific Duties:

    • Develop the CFSJ Encore Fellows Initiative’s operating plan.
    • Continually monitor the CFSJ Encore Fellows Initiative’s effectiveness and impact.
    • Achieve financial objectives by providing oversight of budgets.
    • Develop a plan for the evaluation of the initiative.
    • Report outcomes and deliverables to appropriate stakeholders, funders, and program participants.
    • Identify and create opportunities to advocate for the CFSJ Encore Fellows Initiative.

    Formalize Relationships, Recruit Host Organizations, and Recruit CFSJ Encore Fellows

    • Establish relationships and work together with community leaders, business representatives, non-profit organizations, and partners to create opportunities for older adults to tap into their skills and experience to improve South Jersey communities in the eight-county region.
    • Work with the CFSJ executive leadership to recruit a diverse range of candidates, complete orientation and onboarding, ensure thorough orientation with non-profit hosts, and monitor work performance of the CFSJ Encore Fellows.
    • Participate in related community initiatives.
    • Build trust and confidence among the various partners.

    Develop and Execute an Internal and External Communication Plan

    • Develop and execute an internal communication plan to keep appropriate staff informed of initiative progress.
    • Develop and execute an external communication plan in coordination with the Community Foundation of South Jersey communication stakeholders.
    • Communicate regularly with Encore Fellows at the host non-profits, keeping them up to date on program and Community Foundation of South Jersey developments.
    • Develop a plan and make presentations to civic and educational organizations about the CFSJ Encore Fellows Initiative and the impact that older adults have in the region.

    Provide Support to CFSJ Encore Fellows

    • Achieve initiative goals through the Encore Fellows by assigning accountabilities, establishing objectives and priorities, and monitoring and evaluating results.
    • Increase the effectiveness of Encore Fellows by identifying and encouraging appropriate training and mentoring opportunities.
    • Hold regular meetings to create camaraderie and information-sharing for the CFSJ Encore Fellows and their host non-profits.

    Position Qualification Requirements

    Education and Work Experience

    Four-year college degree and a minimum of 5 years of job-related experience managing community initiatives or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. The preferred qualified candidate is a retired professional.
