    The Olana Partnership is seeking a Communications Associate to support its growing communications and marketing needs and to lead the organization to a national level.

    About Olana and The Olana Partnership

    Olana is the greatest masterwork of Frederic Edwin Church (1826-1900), the most famous American landscape artist of the mid-19th century and the most important artist’s home, studio, and designed landscape in the United States. Church designed Olana as a holistic environment integrating his advanced ideas about art, architecture, landscape design, and environmental conservation. Olana’s 250-acre artist-designed landscape with five miles of carriage roads and a Persian-inspired house at its summit embraces unrivaled panoramic views of the Hudson Valley and Catskill Mountains and welcomes more than 170,000 visitors annually. The landscape is open for guided tours, and reservations are highly recommended. The landscape is open daily 8:00 AM – sunset.

    Olana State Historic Site, administered and operated by the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, is a designated National Historic Landmark and one of the most visited sites in the state. The Olana Partnership is the 501(c)(3) not-for-profit cooperative partner of the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation at Olana State Historic Site, with primary responsibility for visitor engagement, programming, and exhibitions.

    Position Summary

    The Communications Associate supports The Olana Partnership’s communications and marketing initiatives with the goal of strengthening national visibility. The position requires strong organizational and interpersonal skills, adaptability, and a proactive approach to meeting business needs. Key responsibilities include coordinating and developing content, managing the communications calendar, tracking analytics, and drafting social media posts and press releases to advance the organization’s recognition. The Communications Associate works within and provides support to the Development Office.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Implement communication strategies in coordination with the Director of Advancement and Marketing to increase exposure, visitation, and sales.
    • Provide communications support to internal teams.
    • Draft and edit communications copy (e.g. press releases, publications, social media posts, web, eblasts).
    • Prepare press kits, research targeted press, update media lists, track media exposure, and strengthen local and national press relationships.
    • Design marketing materials while staying within the organization's branding guidelines.
    • Content creation and management of social media including but not limited to coordinating social media with partner organizations, photography, video, ads.
    • Execute social and digital media strategies - actively respond and engage our audience on social media platforms and monitor trends and performance.
    • Prepare reports, track and analyze analytics, and make suggestions for improving engagement.
    • Maintain web content and monitor online presence.
    • Photography and video of on-site events for social media and promotion.
    • Assist the Development Department with other duties and events.

    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Strong interpersonal, organizational, written, and verbal skills
    • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality in all work

    • Willingness to have a flexible work schedule including nights and weekends
    • A collegial approach to work and a sense of humor
    • Ability to handle information with discretion and confidentiality

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree; Major or concentration in communications, marketing, journalism or equivalent preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience accepted.
    • Substantial experience with social media, preferably in a professional capacity
    • A command of spreadsheet preparation and analysis as well as proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite programs including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
    • Experience in Adobe Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) with an eye toward photography and design

    Work Environment

      • The Communications Associate is an in-person role generally working Monday – Friday with occasional weekends and evenings needed.
      • Indoor and outdoor work environment is expected based on administrative or creative duties.
