    At Victim Support Services (VSS), we believe every survivor deserves compassion, dignity, and a safe space to heal. As our next Community Support Coordinator, you’ll play a vital role in helping victims of violent crime and their loved ones find strength and resilience.

    What You’ll Do:

    • Lead the planning and execution of workshops and events that foster healing and resilience for victims of violent crime
    • Facilitate support groups and workshops for victims of violent crime
    • Provide advocacy, resources, and one-on-one support
    • Build partnerships with community organizations and justice system stakeholders
    • Promote awareness of VSS services through outreach and events
    • Maintain program documentation and reports

    What We’re Looking For:

    • Bachelor’s degree (Human Services, Criminal Justice, or related field) or equivalent experience is a plus
    • Experience working with trauma-impacted individuals
    • Strong organizational, facilitation, and communication skills
    • Comfortable working independently, remotely, and in the community
    • Must live in Snohomish, King, or Skagit County

    • Full-time, one-year temporary position

    POSITION/TITLE: Community Support Coordinator

    REPORTS TO: Programs Administrator

    POSITION STATUS: Full Time/Non-Exempt

    POSITION OVERVIEW:

    Responsible for assisting the Programs Administrator and Executive Director in the development and implementation of the organization’s Community Support Program creating a safe, respectful, confidential, and welcoming space for individuals to share as they process trauma due to victimization in their lives. The Community Support Coordinator (CSC) position provides a unique opportunity for mission-driven individuals to make a meaningful difference in the lives of violent crime victims by coordinating and managing all supportive groups, activities and workshops that promote healing and resiliency. This position is funded through a grant from the Washington State Department of Commerce and provides services to victims of non-domestic violence and non-sexual assault crimes and their loved ones, including assessment of victim needs with a special emphasis on outreach and the facilitation of in-person supportive activities specific to the Community Support Program throughout regions served. This position is housed remotely, providing services virtually with designated in-person planned groups, activities and workshops for victims of violent crime. Victim Support Services (VSS) believes in providing compassionate and victim-centered services that are culturally competent and linguistically appropriate to all individuals. VSS is dedicated to ensuring that victims of crime and/or the loved ones of crime victims are treated with respect and dignity, receive the best care from personnel, and highest quality information and referral assistance.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    Community Support Services:

    • Create, coordinate and manage supportive groups, activities and workshops that promote healing and resiliency for victims of violent crime throughout the calendar year
    • Communicate with VSS Staff on client needs
    • Collaborate with VSS personnel to facilitate supportive groups, activities and workshops
    • Arrange for speakers/presenters for the program as needed
    • Coordinate and conduct Community Support Program intake assessments
    • Oversee logistics for the Community Support Programs supportive groups, activities and workshops
    • Provide support to participants, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment
    • Offer emotional support, one-on-one advocacy, resources, referrals and assist with typical struggles created by victimization
    • Provide back-up direct assistance to crime victims, their families and friends as needed in conjunction with the Victim Services Coordinator and Programs Administrator
    • Provide follow-up and ongoing contact with participants and clients
    • Attend client events (in-person and/or virtually) as requested by Programs Administrator and/or Executive Director, including those held outside business hours and regular schedule

    Outreach Services:

      • Serve as an enthusiastic advocate and champion for our mission
      • Community outreach to inform about the program and available services
      • Collaborate with stakeholders in the criminal justice system, traumatic grief and companioning programs, social services agencies, and similar to include regional partners
      • Identify underserved populations of crime victims in community and explore means to provide information on the Community Support Program and services
      • Work with third party providers virtually and in-person to obtain appropriate services for the participants
      • Promote awareness of supportive groups, activities and workshops for violent crime victims
      • Network virtually via email, telephone, Zoom, and social media networks in addition to in-person to maintain contacts with representatives of other victim service providers to ensure continuity of services
      • Help coordinate and facilitate client events
      • Attend community outreach events (in-person and/or virtually) as requested by Programs Administrator and/or Executive Director, including those held outside business hours and regular schedule

    Administrative Duties/Documentation/Data Collection:

    • Collect, maintain, and record relevant Community Support Program data and statistics
    • Provide complete and timely documentation for services rendered in accordance with agency policies
    • Ensure that data for services provided is appropriately tracked to ensure compliance with funding sources
    • Work with other VSS personnel, Programs Administrator and Executive Director to monitor, evaluate and improve program performance to most effectively meet client needs
    • Maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive client and agency information
    • Attend staff meetings and training
    • Provide Board Report on Community Support Program to Programs Administrator
    • Provide Community Support Program report at all-staff meetings in conjunction with Programs Administrator
    • Ensure the Google drive is current with Community Support Program materials and other pertinent documents related to position
    • Administrate the creation and publishing of relevant, high-quality content related to the Community Support Program and victim services in general on social media, the website, through agency updates including mass emails and quarterly newsletters, and blog posts
    • Undertake other tasks, as designated

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services, Criminal Justice/Criminology, Social Services or related field equivalent combination of experience, education, and training
    • Must demonstrate knowledge of crime victim issues, grief and trauma issues, the criminal justice system, and community resources
    • Experience working with individuals who have experienced trauma
    • Excellent organizational and communication skills, both oral and written
    • Possess problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
    • Ability to be empathic and separate personal needs from participant needs
    • Ability to redirect and facilitate discussion
    • Maintain a safe environment where participants’ thoughts and feelings are valued and treated with fairness, equity and respect
    • Participation as a team player and sensitive to issues of diversity
    • Experience in public speaking and training presentations
    • Organized, efficient, and ability to multi-task
    • Effective coordinator of projects and able to delegate tasks so projects are completed in a timely manner
    • Ability to work remotely and virtually
    • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks and meet deadlines with solid organizational, and analytical skills
    • Must be able to prioritize, remain flexible in order to adapt to an environment that is constantly changing to meet the needs of clients
    • Must be available to work evenings or weekends on occasion (about once per month on average)
    • Deal courteously, professionally and tactfully with internal and/or external partners, agencies and the public
    • Must be able to appropriately handle job stress, to work under pressure, and to deal with challenging clients
    • Comply with all agency policies and procedures to maintain strict ethical, confidential, and professional behavior
    • Share organizational values and culture
    • Must comply with state mandated training and continuing education requirements
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
    • Computer knowledge of MS Office products, Google Workspace, email systems, Canva, Zoom, and learning new software programs

    CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

    • Must reside in Snohomish, King or Skagit county to be available for in-person activities
    • Complete 40-hour Core Advocacy Training
    • Reliable internet access at home office
