    Description

The Equal Justice Initiative is announcing a fellowship opportunity for individuals with graduate degrees who are interested in working with the leadership of the Legacy Sites in Montgomery, Alabama.

The Equal Justice Initiative (EJI) is a non-profit human rights organization that has provided legal assistance to the poor, wrongly convicted, unfairly sentenced and condemned for over 35 years. In 2018, we expanded our work and opened the award-winning Legacy Sites. The National Memorial for Peace and Justice, the Legacy Museum, and Freedom Monument Sculpture Park are three separate cultural institutions that have received international acclaim and now attract over half a million visitors each year. https://legacysites.eji.org/ The sites confront America's history of racial injustice through immersive engagement with carefully curated original content designed to educate, inspire and foster an era of truth and justice.

This Legacy Fellowship is an opportunity to work with the Deputy Director of the Legacy Sites on dozens of special projects to enhance the experience of visitors. The Legacy Fellow will work with leadership on projects to strengthen operations, administration and management of the sites and the visitor experience. Fellows will sometimes aid in the curation of content, acquisition of art and exhibits, operations logistics, public programming and management of content at the sites. It is a fast-paced environment where we interact with thousands of visitors and guests each month. The successful candidate will be hard-working, attentive, careful and present excellent interpersonal skills. Strong writing and oral communication skills, along with effective time management, will be essential for this role.

Individuals with an interest in museums, cultural institutions, curation, administrative management and/or project management are especially encouraged to apply.

The Legacy Fellowship is a minimum one-year commitment to a full-time position in Montgomery, Alabama. A graduate degree and strong references are preferred for this position. The position offers excellent benefits and a salary determined by relevant experience.
