    Description

    About the Campaign

One Fair Wage is a national organization fighting to raise wages, improve working conditions in the service sector, and end all subminimum wages in the United States. With the Great Resignation, millions of workers have refused to work for subminimum wages, employers are raising pay to recruit staff, and the political landscape for wage justice has shifted dramatically.

At this historic moment, One Fair Wage has co-convened the national Living Wage for All campaign to raise wages closer to the cost of living, end all subminimum wages, and engage millions of low-wage workers in the political process.

In Michigan, One Fair Wage is leading both a veto referendum campaign and a ballot initiative campaign to raise wages and end all subminimum wages statewide.

    About the Role

The Michigan Campaign Manager (Part-Time Consultant) will serve as the senior strategist and campaign leader for the Living Wage for All Michigan campaign. This is a part-time consultant role requiring someone who is already well-known, deeply networked, and highly respected in Michigan politics and advocacy.

Rather than managing day-to-day field operations, the consultant will focus on high-level political leadership, coalition building, and resource development, leveraging their relationships and reputation to strengthen and guide the campaign.

This role reports to the National Ballot Initiative Director and works in collaboration with national leadership and Michigan staff.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Strategic Leadership
      • Serve as a senior leader and public face of the Michigan campaign.
      • Provide high-level guidance on strategy for both the veto referendum and ballot initiative.
      • Ensure Michigan campaign strategy aligns with national campaign goals.
    • Coalition & Stakeholder Engagement
      • Leverage existing relationships with elected officials, unions, advocacy groups, and community leaders.
      • Expand and strengthen the campaign’s coalition.
      • Represent the campaign in public forums, stakeholder meetings, and press opportunities.
    • Resource Development
      • Assist with in-state fundraising by cultivating donors and institutional supporters.
      • Help bring financial, political, and organizational resources into the campaign.
    • Advisory & Support Role
      • Provide strategic advice to field, communications, and organizing staff.
      • Act as a senior advisor to the National Ballot Initiative Director on Michigan dynamics.

    Who You Are

    • A respected and well-connected leader in Michigan politics or advocacy.
    • At least two cycles of campaign, political, or advocacy leadership experience.
    • Skilled in coalition building, fundraising, and political strategy.
    • Comfortable serving as a spokesperson and high-level representative.
    • Deep commitment to workers’ rights, economic justice, and racial equity.

    Job Details

    • Compensation: depending on experience
    • Hours: Part-time, with flexible scheduling.
    • Location: Based in Michigan, with regular travel within the state.
