    Description

    The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with an unlimited contract duration. Employment location will be Bonn, Germany.

    As the Head of Finance, you will hold disciplinary leadership over the Finance unit, which currently comprises a team of 20 people, and be globally responsible for all financial functions, including accounting, controlling, risk management, and asset management. You will be a key strategic partner to the Executive Management Team (EMT) and senior leadership, driving economic efficiency and compliance across the entire organization.

    Your responsibilities

    • Lead the preparation of annual financial statements for the Association and the Foundation, working closely with auditors to achieve an unqualified audit opinion
    • Develop and oversee annual financial and economic planning, ensuring mid-term financial sustainability by monitoring market trends, particularly in the private donations and public funding sectors.
    • Oversee the global risk management framework, identifying risks, implementing mitigation strategies, and reporting regularly to the Executive Management Team (Vorstand).
    • Advise the CFO and the Finance Committee on sustainable and high-performing investment strategies, ensuring adherence to investment policies and guidelines.
    • Evaluate new business areas with regard to their economic viability and in consideration of relevant legal frameworks (e.g., tax code, etc.).
    • Lead, inspire, and develop the finance team, while driving essential change management, particularly in the context of the SAP S/4HANA transformation.

    Your profile

    • A degree in Economics, Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field.
    • More than five years of relevant experience in a comparable financial leadership role.
    • Proven experience leading and implementing major change processes, e.g., large-scale system transformations like SAP S/4HANA.
    • Strong business expertise, including ensuring the accuracy and reliability of financial statements, global controlling, and the development of strategic business plans.
    • Knowledge of German tax law (Abgabenordnung), especially regarding non-profit compliance and supplementary economic activities.
    • Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills (as a “Business Partner”) and can present complex financial topics clearly to boards and committees (excellent PowerPoint skills).
    • An analytical and evidence-based working style, combined with the ability to motivate teams and make data-driven decisions.
    • Willingness to travel to ensure global financial oversight.
    • Fluent German and very good English skills; French or Arabic is a plus.
