    Description

    The Development Director will lead and grow a comprehensive fundraising program with a focus on mid-level donors ($1,000–$25,000) and membership-level donors (under $1,000). Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Development Director will develop and execute strategies to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors across ICV’s entities. This role requires both strategic vision and hands-on execution, with the opportunity to shape donor engagement for long-term organizational growth.

    Indiana Conservation Voters (ICV) and our affiliated organizations — ICV Victory Fund PAC and the Indiana Conservation Fund (ICF, a 501c3) — work to ensure that no law or regulation in Indiana is enacted without taking into account the voices of Hoosiers, impacted communities, and future generations. We hold Indiana’s government accountable and advocate for clean air, clean water, and a healthy democracy.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Partner with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to design and implement an annual fundraising plan with goals, benchmarks, and donor targets.
    • Support the Executive Director in institutional fundraising
    • Lead donor identification research and pipeline development, moving supporters from membership to mid-level and major donor levels.
    • Oversee membership and mid-level giving programs, including donor acquisition, retention, and upgrades.
    • Personally cultivate and steward relationships with donors through meetings, calls, written communication, and events.
    • Produce compelling appeals, donor communications, and stewardship materials in collaboration with vendors and communications staff.
    • Plan and execute donor events (in-person and virtual).
    • Manage donor data and systems, ensuring timely and accurate tracking of donor activity and progress.
    • Participate actively in the national Conservation Voter Movement’s development community, leveraging resources and best practices.

    Qualifications

    • At least 3–5 years of nonprofit or political fundraising experience.
    • Demonstrated success building donor pipelines and upgrading donor support.
    • Excellent communication skills, including strong storytelling and donor engagement.Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and manage multiple projects.
    • Experience with fundraising databases (EveryAction and WealthEngine preferred).
    • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and justice.

    Bonus Skills

    • Experience with digital fundraising.
    • Knowledge of charitable giving tax strategies.
