    Programs Team

    BAGLY’s Programs Team includes staff, youth, and young adult Peer Leaders, and volunteers.

    BAGLY’s three core programs are:

    1. Health & Wellness
    2. Stabilization & Success
    3. Youth Leadership & Advocacy

    All three programs are supported by BAGLY’s 10,000-square-foot Downtown Boston Community Center. The Center includes activities, events, peer-led social support meetings, parties, and more, in addition to programming and services related to each program.

    Stabilization & Success Program

    BAGLY’s Stabilization & Success (SANDS) Program seeks to reduce housing and economic insecurity for LGBTQ+ youth and young adults. SANDS helps participants access resources to help them stabilize and learn life skills so they can build their sense of agency and autonomy.

    The program’s core strategies are:

    1. Direct Support
    2. Education & Employment
    3. Housing & Independent Living

    Position Overview

    The SANDS Program Coordinator (“Coordinator”), reporting to the SANDS Program Manager (“Manager”), implements SANDS Program activities, provides programmatic administrative support, and staffs drop-in hours at the Community Center as well as on- and off-site events.

    The Coordinator works closely with Programs staff, colleagues throughout the organization, and youth leaders to ensure the success of BAGLY events (e.g., Halloween Party, MA Youth Pride, Trans Youth Summit) and community partnerships.

    This position will operate on-site at BAGLY’s Downtown Boston Community Center. Evenings are required to staff drop-in hours (currently Monday through Friday, with plans to extend to Saturdays). Occasional weekends are also required. This position includes travel inside the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and requires a current MA driver’s license.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    General SANDS Program Implementation

    • Provide programmatic and administrative support for SANDS activities.
    • Facilitate trainings for Adult Advisor volunteers.
    • Collect, input, clean, and monitor qualitative and quantitative program data, and provide regular reports to Manager.

    Direct Support

    • Conduct client screenings and implement solutions to address needs of clientele.
    • Manage, maintain and serve as point person for access to Direct Aid assets including the supportive supplies closet, BAGLY boutique, and gift card inventory.

    Education & Employment

    • In collaboration with the Manager, plan and implement new activities in partnership with youth Peer Leaders, youth with lived experience, staff, and community partners.
    • Support the development and implementation of BAGLY’s internship program, activities and workshops.
    • Collaborate with BAGLY staff to ensure access to supplies needed for interviews (e.g., hygiene products, clothing, etc.).

    Housing & Independent Living

    • Build and maintain a robust network of referral sources to support the housing, food, and transportation needs of clients.
    • Support young adults in accessing the referral network.
    • Facilitate activities and workshops to strengthen independent living skills among clients.

    Community Center & Drop-In Support

    • With the Program Team, staff the Community Center during drop-in hours and at off-site events.
    • Build supportive relationships with youth.
    • Support youth in navigating BAGLY resources, services, and activities (e.g., helping youth access the supportive supplies closet or BAGLY Boutique).
    • Support youth in navigating resources, and stay current on opportunities for external referrals/referral networks
    • Support youth and staff in upholding rules and community agreements.
    • With other Program Coordinators and Peer Leaders, project manage, oversee, and help implement Community Center events.

    General Program Coordinator Responsibilities

    • Submit marketing, communications, and purchase requests to other teams as needed.
    • Disseminate opportunities to BAGLY and AGLY Network youth and staff.
    • Collaborate with Development & Marketing staff and youth Peer Leaders to plan outreach and marketing strategies for activities and events.
    • Support community partnerships.
    • Maintain strong communication and collaboration amongst all BAGLY Coordinators.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Ideal candidates will demonstrate capabilities that meet the basic qualifications. Advanced qualifications are a plus but not required.

    Basic Qualifications

    • Strong understanding of and commitment to BAGLY’s mission and values.
    • Demonstrated understanding of the current and emerging needs of LGBTQ+ youth, including LGBTQ+ youth experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity or in foster care.
    • Demonstrated experience implementing programs, activities, or events.
    • Demonstrated ability to build supportive relationships—including with youth experiencing complex challenges—and to establish and maintain appropriate boundaries with youth and/or young adults.
    • Demonstrated experience facilitating trainings or workshops and/or providing one-on-one coaching or guidance to youth and/or young adults.
    • Demonstrated experience implementing a work plan, meeting goals and deliverables, and completing detail-oriented tasks.
    • Demonstrated experience with data collection and analysis.
    • Demonstrated ability to professionally represent an organization or program, including through verbal and written communication.
    • Ability to build community partnerships or referral networks.

    Advanced Qualifications

    • Highly relevant degree such as MSW, MPH, or similar degree. LICSW preferred.
    • Demonstrated success managing LGBTQ+ youth homelessness, housing, or other social service programs.
    • Demonstrated success writing an annual work plan and creating a program budget.
    • Demonstrated success designing and implementing new data monitoring and evaluation systems and strategies (e.g., pre/post surveys, client satisfaction surveys).
    • Demonstrated success writing grant or contract applications and reports.
    • Demonstrated success developing curriculum or workshops.
    • Demonstrated success facilitating effective trainings, workshops, and meetings.
    • Fluency in one or more languages other than English.
