    Description

    DESCRIPTION OF THE POSITION

The Manager, Data and Operations keeps BEAM’s programs running at their best by leading the systems that support efficiency, learning, and growth. As head of the Data & Operations group, this role identifies challenges, designs tech-enabled solutions, and makes sure program staff have the tools and data they need to serve students effectively.

This role works closely with teams across BEAM to streamline operations, strengthen data collection and analysis, and support staff as they adopt new systems that make their work easier and more effective. The Manager, Data & Operations ensures our internal operations are strong, scalable, and aligned with program goals—so BEAM can continue to expand opportunities for students.

    ABOUT CENTRAL PROGRAM SERVICES

The Central Program Services team is the backbone of BEAM’s programs, making sure they are strong, scalable, and true to our mission. We design, refine, and strengthen programming while also building the data and operational systems that keep everything running smoothly. This is a new team founded to proactively support BEAM's future growth.

Most of our focus is on year-round programming for middle and high school students—like afterschool and weekend enrichment and our 8th grade transition programs—but we also contribute to other parts of BEAM’s work when needed, such as elementary teacher support, middle school summer camps, and college success services.

Our role is to equip BEAM’s local program teams in Los Angeles and New York City with materials, tools, and systems they can adapt to their communities and bring to life with students. In doing so, we make sure every student experience is both rooted in BEAM’s mission and responsive to local context.

The team is made up of two groups:

    • Curriculum & Design, which shapes the learning experiences students receive.
    • Data & Operations, your group, which develops the systems, workflows, and tech solutions that fuel efficiency and enable BEAM to keep growing while staying true to our roots.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Team Leadership & Staff Management (15%)

    • Lead the Data and Operations team with clear annual goals, reflection cycles, and a collaborative work environment.
    • Build trust and alignment with local and summer program teams to address workflow challenges and set improvement priorities.
    • Provide training and professional development to ensure smooth adoption of new tools, systems, and processes.

    Data Collection & Management (50%)

    • In collaboration with program owners, build and maintain a complete record of all program data requirements that needs to be tracked, including data sources, collection methods, frequency and deadlines.
    • Oversee centralized student record-keeping systems (e.g., Salesforce) for program admissions, registration, participation and performance.
    • Define, track, and maintain program data requirements to measure fidelity and impact.
    • Develop self-service tools and processes that enable program managers and staff to collect, analyze, and use program data for goal setting, progress monitoring and decision-making.
    • Aggregate and analyze formative program data to help senior leaders identify wins, challenges, and priorities throughout the year.
    • Work with Business Operations and IT teams to ensure all program data is compliant with organizational-wide data governance, privacy and security requirements.

    Program Operations & Efficiency (20%)

    • Identify and analyze core program workflows to identify capacity constraints and inefficiencies.
    • Recommend, test, and implement automation or tech-enabled solutions to improve workflows.
    • Demonstrate scalability and impact of new processes before organization-wide adoption.

    Program Learning & Development (15%)

    • Document and maintain clear program data definitions and collection processes.
    • Communicate key deadlines, expectations, and process updates to program staff.
    • Deliver training on data systems, tools, and analysis for program improvement.
