This is a hands-on role ideal for someone passionate about youth empowerment, technology access, and building relationships with young leaders.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Youth Engagement & Program Support

    • Assist with recruitment, onboarding, and coordination of youth participants, including members of the Youth Leadership Council and Digital Literacy programs.
    • Provide on-site support for programs and events, including service-learning projects, digital literacy workshops, wellness activities, and leadership trainings.
    • Help facilitate drop-in activities at the East Kinston Neighborhood Hub and Digital Resource Lab.
    • Mentor youth participants and help create a safe, inclusive, and engaging space.

    Digital Literacy Support

    • Support delivery of digital literacy curriculum, workshops, and one-on-one assistance for youth and community members.
    • Help manage the Digital Resource Lab, including setting up equipment, assisting participants with technology, and troubleshooting basic tech issues.
    • Assist with distributing internet-enabled devices and helping recipients learn to use them effectively.
    • Contribute to the creation and maintenance of the Digital Resource Guide.

    Outreach & Community Engagement

    • Assist with neighborhood outreach, canvassing, and event tabling to promote youth programs and digital literacy resources.

    • Comfort with computers, internet tools, and basic troubleshooting; willingness to learn new technologies.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and youth empowerment.
    • Basic photography, videography, and content creation skills are a plus.
    • Commitment to Kinston Teens’ mission and values.
    • Ability to work collaboratively in an intergenerational and multicultural environment.
    • Willingness to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends.
    • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

    Work Environment:

This position will primarily work indoors at the Kinston Teens Office or the East Kinston Neighborhood Hub. There will be occasional outdoor events and field work, such as event tabling, canvassing, or supervising volunteer projects during which sufficient mobility is required to navigate uneven terrain. Some travel to attend events, trainings, or conferences is required. We believe in fostering a healthy work-life balance and provide a flexible work environment that aligns with our mission of serving the community on days and times most accessible to those most impacted by our programs.
