    Description

    The Donor Management & Marketing Director supports the advancement and sustainability of the organization by strengthening fundraising efforts and the process and systems to track them. They will manage donor relationships, overseeing timely stewardship, and executing integrated marketing strategies. This person will be someone who gets energy from bringing people together around passionate educators and the mission to drastically change learning, and can turn that energy into real financial support for our programs. This role balances strategic planning with day-to-day implementation, ensuring that donor engagement, communications, and fundraising activities align with organizational goals.

    Working alongside our Program Director, who leads the student-facing side of Motogo, this person will guide the fundraising side. Together, these two halves of our team make Motogo continue moving forward. When the founders are out sharing our message about learning through failure across the country, this person will take the lead at home in Cleveland, making sure our supporters feel seen, thanked, and engaged.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Fundraising & Campaigns

    • Lead planning and execution of four annual individual donor fundraising campaigns (multi-channel: direct mail, email, social media, events).
    • Coordinate the annual “Bringin’ Back Shop Class” benefit gala in partnership with contracted event team, including donor cultivation, sponsorships, ticketing strategy, and marketing.
    • Support donor segmentation and targeted appeals to drive retention and increase giving levels.
    • Collaborate with staff and board on advancement planning and annual fundraising goals.

    Marketing & Communications

    • Develop and manage the annual communications calendar across newsletters, social media, website, print, and press.
    • Write, edit, and produce newsletters, blogs, impact reports, and press releases.
    • Create marketing and fundraising collateral via Canva and work with designers, contractors, and volunteers as needed.
    • Monitor and analyze engagement metrics, adjusting strategies to optimize donor conversion and audience reach.
    • Serve as the organization’s point of contact for branding, messaging, and donor-facing communications.

    Donor Engagement & Stewardship

    • In partnership with Motogo’s donor management contractor, oversee donor acknowledgment and stewardship processes to ensure timely, meaningful recognition.
    • Develop and implement personalized stewardship touchpoints (thank-you calls, notes, donor spotlights, impact stories).
    • Cultivate donor relationships by creating opportunities for connection (classroom/site visits, behind-the-scenes experiences).
    • Track engagement in the CRM (Little Green Light), generate reports, and share insights with leadership and the board.

    Team & Collaboration

    • Partner with program staff to design meaningful donor and volunteer experiences.
    • Contribute to a collaborative, values-driven organizational culture.
    • Perform other duties as needed to advance Motogo’s mission.

    Competencies

    • Leadership and ability to guide interns, volunteers, or contractors.
    • Effective problem-solving and project management skills.
    • Proficiency in donor CRM systems, email marketing platforms, and social media tools.
    • Technical expertise in Google Suite, Little Green Light or similar CRM, GiveLively, Better Unite and/ or other fundraising platforms and design tools like Canva -preferred.
    • Ability to translate data into actionable insights.

    Education and Experience

    • Education: Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, nonprofit management, or related field required.
    • Certifications or licensure: None required.
    • Years of relevant experience: 5 - 7 years in donor relations, nonprofit communications, or fundraising preferred.
    • Years of experience supervising (people or project): 2-3 years preferred.

    Employment Contingencies

    • Must be able to pass the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) and FBI background checks.
    • Must be able to complete trauma-informed care training as required.
    • Must be able to complete VIRTUS training for teaching in Diocese of Cleveland schools if applicable.
    • Driver’s license and ability to maintain a driving record that is satisfactory to the organization’s liability insurance carrier is required.

    Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

    • The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts typical of office work and occasional event settings, with observance of all fire and safety regulations.
    • Noise level is usually quiet to moderate, but may be moderate to loud during events or community activities.
    • Position is hybrid: on-site at the office, at donor events, with flexibility to work from home and coffee shops.
    • Work hours are generally Monday to Friday, 8:30a to 4:30p, with occasional (not often- perhaps 6 times per year) evenings and weekends required for events, campaigns, or donor meetings.
    • Local travel by personal automobile required; valid State of Ohio driver’s license is required.
    • Ability to lift objects of at least 25 pounds and carry them short distances (20 feet or less).
