    National WIC Association Internship Program

    The National WIC Association (NWA), is now accepting applications for its Spring 2026 Internship Program. NWA is a high-impact non-profit, member organization that represents more than 2,000 service provider agencies that offer quality nutrition education, breastfeeding support, health care and other social referral services to women and young children in over 10,000 WIC clinics nationwide.

    Communications Intern Position Summary:

    • Content creation support, including graphic design for social media, videos, blog posts, etc
    • Assist with events and advocacy for specific campaigns
    • Provide database support for national WIC clinic finder

    Skills/Experience Required:

    • Ability to work well with a team and with a wide variety of stakeholders
    • Willingness and interest in learning about the WIC program
    • Experience in one or more of the following areas: nutrition, public health, event planning, data collection, research, communications, public relations
    • Interest in Maternal and Child Health and Health Equity.
    • Strong oral and written communication skills with an attention to detail.
    • Familiarity with Google Suite (Gmail, Google Drive, Google Sheets, Google Docs)
    • Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion.

    Eligibility and Schedule:

    Undergraduate and graduate students are eligible to apply. Positions can be used to fulfill practicum requirements and/or for university credit. Applicants must be willing to dedicate a minimum of 200 hours over the course of a semester. There is some flexibility in the schedule (i.e. applicants can do 10 weeks of 20 hours, or 15 weeks at 13 hours), and individual schedules can be discussed with internship supervisors. Participants may go beyond 200 hours as desired or to fulfill practicum requirements, up to a maximum of 300 hours. Interns will determine their specific schedule with their supervisor.
