    Job title: Hospitality Manager

    Reports to: Deputy General Secretary

    The Friends Place Manager is the staff member primarily responsible for ensuring that the Friends Place facilities are well-maintained for guests and for facilitating the guest experience. The Friends Place manager works on site and is the point person for Friends Place and Quaker Welcome Center rentals. Upon completion of a residential living space in 2026, the Friends Place manager will live onsite.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Serves as primary host for groups and guests (35%)

    • Primary person on site for guest welcome, needs, and emergencies
    • Represents and promotes the Quaker identity and character of Friends Place through the space and guest interactions

    Manages reservations, administration, and logistics (35%)

    • Handles all aspects of reservations for Friends Place and the Quaker Welcome Center
    • Communicate regularly and work with the FCNL Finance team about Friends Place invoices and billing matters
    • Provides input for and assists in the budgeting process for Friends Place

    Manages the Friends Place property and guest turnover (20%)

    • Coordinates maintenance needs with the Facilities Manager

    Offers hospitality support for FCNL/EdFund programming happening at Friends Place (10%)

    • Backup for leading workshops held at Friends Place

    Requirements

    • Strong collaborator-peer management and project management experience are essential.
    • Excellent verbal and writing skills; strong organization skills.
    • Ability to model anti-racism, anti-bias, justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion practices.
    • Capacity to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, work with manager to set priorities and effectively implement those priorities as a successful team member.
    • Proven ability to be decisive and persistent while making good judgments about program and people.
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Familiarity with the Religious Society of Friends and Quaker faith and practice, especially decision-making and social action.

    Education & Experience

    • At least three years of relevant experience such as hospitality, customer service, working with youth, etc.

    Preferred Job Qualifications

    • Experience with guest houses or retreat centers

    Physical Demands & Work Environment

    • This position does require routine use of stairs (1-3 flights) to access office space, meeting rooms, and supplies as well as the occasional lifting and carrying of packages, supplies, and laundry bags (no more than 50lbs).

    Compensation and Work Expectations

    The anticipated compensation range for candidates in DMV is $74,500 to $80,000 per year. The final compensation package offered to a successful candidate and placement within the pay grade will be dependent on the candidate’s specific background and qualifications and equilibrium with our internal equity.     This is a full-time nonexempt position, based on an average 37.5-hour workweek, and may require some evenings, weekends or holidays. This person is expected to work in-person at Friends Place and will live onsite once a residential living space is completed. This person is expected to respond to and resolve after-hour emergencies that may arise.
