  • Mission

The mission of Autism R.E.C is to provide community education, programs, critical resources, recreational activities, and support services to the families of autistic children.

    About Us

Autism R.E.C was founded in 2017 to provide a culturally competent intervention program that strengthens communication skills, social skills, as well as combat behavioral challenges for children diagnosed with Autism. Founded by Jamila Mulero, a mother of a child with Autism. Jamila worked endlessly to find support for her family and her son, Jazier. Only to fall short of resources due to the stigma attached to children with Autism, as well as the lack of local programs to help support children and families with Autism.

The program was initially set up as a safe space for kids with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) to combat social and behavioral challenges. Due to the outpouring request from the community, specifically parents with children diagnosed with Autism, Jamila knew she needed to raise awareness around this cause to assist low-income families with navigating the intricate journey of caring for a child with a disability. Since inception, Autism REC has served over 220 families with children diagnosed with Autism.
