  • Mission

TreeFolks is a non-profit organization dedicated to growing the urban forest of Central Texas. Each year we plant more than 10,000 trees and provide classes and community outreach to help central Texans increase their awareness of the benefits provided by the urban forest and learn simple steps they can take to increase tree canopy.

We invite community groups, schools, government, and individuals to join us in creating a healthier environment and enhancing the quality of urban life.

    About Us

TreeFolks has a strong citizen volunteer base of thousands from the greater Austin metropolitan area who have participated in tree plantings and educational programs. TreeFolks mission is achieved by hosting volunteer tree plantings in parks, along medians, at schools and in other public areas.

Education is a major emphasis of TreeFolks. We stress the importance of planting and care of our valuable urban forest by planting trees with school children, publishing a tree growing guide, teaching classes and workshops, publishing a monthly e-newsletter, and staffing information booths.

Since 2008 when Hurricane Ike struck the Galveston coast, TreeFolks has been a part of disaster relief efforts. The devastating drought and wildfires of 2011 have allowed us to work closer to home in Bastrop, Oak Hill and Spicewood.
