  • About Us

    MISSION

GenOne partners with talented, first-generation students from underserved communities, helping them successfully navigate to and through college.

    • We identify high performing, rising seventh graders attending Title I public middle schools in Charlotte and involve students and their families in year-round academic and experiential college preparatory programming lasting through high school graduation.
    • We prepare students to be “scholarship-ready” by junior year and provide intensive support on standardized testing, financial aid, applications, scholarship searches and career planning.
    • We cultivate social and emotional growth through cohort experiences/field trips, after school clubs, life skills training and mentoring relationships through the Navigator program.
    • We support Scholars with comprehensive services through college graduation to ensure they gain meaningful employment and graduate within six years.

    VALUES AND GUIDING PRINCIPLES

    1. ACCESS - GenOne Scholars deserve the knowledge, resources and support they need to be the first generation in their family to graduate from college.
    2. COMMUNITY - We are a chosen family who will uplift each other and seek to maintain our collective wellbeing as we persist towards our goal.
    3. PERSISTENCE – We harness our resiliency to overcome challenges on our journey.
    4. DIVERSITY & INCLUSION - We respect, value and seek the diversity, perspectives, input and voices of people from all backgrounds within the GenOne community.
    5. ACHIEVEMENT - We strive for excellence in all we do and commit to growth when we fail.
