  • Mission

The purpose of Urban Bridges is to empower low-income women, children and families by further developing their innate capacity for creativity, communication, self-reliance and community connection. We strive to offer a safe haven for families in our multi-cultural and multi-lingual community—providing a stimulating learning environment and a welcoming, supportive space where conversation, empathy, and encouragement meet the challenges of inner-city life.

    About Us

Urban Bridges has three constituent programs. The Academy of Creative Arts at Trinity (ACAT), launched in 2009, is a free after-school music and arts program that gives children and youth in the Greater Haverhill area the opportunity to explore their creativity and musical talents. In the summer, the ACAT mission is expressed through a free, week-long theater “day-camp.” ACAT programs serve youngsters ages 6-18. Dinah’s House, established in 2016, offers crisis referrals and empowers women through educational opportunities, self-sufficiency skills training, and cultural enrichment. Food Forward, a new program being launched this Fall is a dynamic workforce development program designed to empower low-income residents through culinary training, food handler or manager certification, and assistance with accessing employment or starting their own food business.

From its inception, Urban Bridges Inc. has worked to embody key values in all its programs. We pursue our mission with an aim to be inclusive of people from varied religious and cultural backgrounds; to build supportive human relationships within and among the programs; and to promote healthy and broadening civic connections between our participants and the larger Haverhill community. Our multi-lingual team of staff and program volunteers are a literal bridge between participants in the program and the larger community.
