Palmer Scholars

  • Mission

We are committed to supporting underrepresented Pierce County students of color to overcome financial, cultural, and social barriers in their pursuit of higher education.

    About Us

In the 34 years since its inception, Palmer Scholars has helped over 400 low-income students of color from Pierce County earn a post-secondary degree with low or even no-debt, within and outside the state of Washington. We provide our Scholars with a renewable scholarship of up to $5,000 for up to 5 years, pre-college readiness training, and a trained adult mentor.

We pair our Scholars with a trained adult mentor in the March of their senior year of high school. Mentors are a crucial part of the support system the Palmer Scholars family offers, and they are vital to each Scholar’s success. We are actively looking for community leaders who would like to volunteer as a Mentor for one of our Scholars.
