Adoption Counselor Remote Volunteer Position

As an adoption counselor, you’ll play a vital role on the adoption team by reviewing adoption applications and guiding applicants through the adoption process. Adoption Counselors help the pets in the DPA foster program find homes of their own, and help match make families to their new furry best friends.

Team: Adoption Team

Location Remote/Virtual:

• Remote/Virtual - Virtual from anywhere, understanding we are in the CST timezone.

Time Commitment:

• Between 6-15 Hours a week

Compensation: This is a Volunteer Position with no monetary compensation. After one year of service we issue a professional letter of recommendation from our Director of Volunteer Management and Human Resources, as well as a LinkedIn recommendation(s) as applicable.

Reports to: Adoption Counselor Lead

Position Responsibilities:

• Review, approve, and handle adoption applications for assigned pets

• Communicate with applicants and foster parents

• Partner with the Foster team to help match applicants with pets that fit their lifestyles

• Manage the contract, payment, and adoption finalization process

• Assisting with any other duties needed to help drive Dallas Pets Alive!’s mission and support our values

Skills and Qualifications best suited for this position:

• Strong sense of organization

• Must be at least 18 years of age

• Proficiency with Gmail and G-Suite applications

• Fluency in English; bilingual a plus!

• Ability to operate a computer or mobile device

• The following activities are required:

• The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand.

• Must not have conflicting associations with similar non-profit organizations or business(es) related to animal welfare
