    Description

    About Limitless Horizons Ixil

Since 20004, Limitless Horizons Ixil has worked in the rural, Indigenous Maya Ixil [ee-sheel] community of Chajul, Guatemala where poverty, gender inequality, and limited access to education deeply affect young people—especially girls.

Our mission is to create opportunities for the indigenous youth, women, and families of Chajul, to develop the academic and professional skills needed to effect change in their lives and community.

With an innovative middle and high school, community library, and support services for graduates, we work with students at all stages of the educational continuum.

We are a small but passionate team that is primarily made up of local indigenous women.

    Project Background

In 2024, we launched a long-overdue website revamp. The project encountered significant setbacks due to contractor staff turnover at the organization handling the redesign and eventual discontinuation of their services due to unanticipated costs.

Our development and communications team seeks a pro-bono developer to complete the project and ensure the final site is visually engaging and better aligned with our goals for audience engagement and fundraising.

    Project Details

Our website is hosted on Digital Ocean and site has been developed on WordPress with Elementor Pro.

The ideal volunteer will help us to:

    • Finalize design and graphic changes to the site
    • Optimize the mobile site
    • Ensure blog posts transfer to the new website
    • Download and store graphic elements currently stored in Figma
    • Help push the site live
    • Train staff on basic website maintenance and updates (text and images updates)
    • Optional: Integrate forms (eg. Donation form, etc) onto pages from Blackbaud's eTapestry
    • Optional: Design a new staff bio section based on a clear example
