South Bay San Diego board member to help direct food recovery organization

Do you live or work in the South Bay of San Diego County? Can you help lead Senior Gleaners of San Diego County?

We are a 30+year nonprofit serving San Diego County. Our mission is to bring the senior community together to provide fresh, healthy food to those needing it the most.

Our board is working on our next strategic plan. We are looking for a South Bay representative to ensure that we address the unique needs of that area of San Diego County.

We are seeking ONE person who lives or works in the South Bay to fill the role of a board member-at-large to help lead our organization. We are looking for candidates NOW to begin serving in fall 2025. The position is vital to the continued operation and success of our organization and will be supported by our board of directors.

The volunteer members of the Board of Senior Gleaners set policy, lead in fund raising, exercise fiduciary responsibility, and have hiring authority. The board approves the annual budget, and all policies and plans to fulfill the organization’s mission. The board consults with and oversees the work of the part-time general manager.

Board members should reflect the communities that we serve, and bring personal skill-sets that enhance the oversight and management of the organization. Members attend quarterly virtual meetings. Between meetings, they work on committee assignments. Members are expected to make an annual financial contribution. Approved by a vote of the board, officers serve for a term of two years and may serve an additional two years in the same position.
