Fight Hunger! Volunteer Outreach Ambassador Needed - San Mateo County

Are you passionate about ending hunger? Do you love speaking and networking with different groups of people? Then maybe our Outreach Ambassador Team would be a great place for you to volunteer!

This is a fantastic opportunity for charismatic and engaging individuals to become an ambassador for Second Harvest of Silicon Valley at a variety of outreach events across San Mateo county. You will provide vital information to the community members about Second Harvest services, such as the Free Grocery Program and CalFresh application assistance. You will be provided with all the outreach materials needed to attend these events, and you will work closely with Second Harvest staff as part of your training. Join us in building hunger-free communities!

Requirements:

1. Complete 2 trainings sessions (On-Site Orientation and Virtual Training)
2. Attend 3 outreach events within first 3 months of training completion with SHFB Outreach Staff
3. Reliable transportation and willingness to travel within the community
4. 18 years or older

Responsibilities:

• Represent Second Harvest at a variety of community events
• Raise awareness about food resources in our community
• Educate and inspire our community about how to get involved with Second Harvest
• Maintain an understanding of the history, mission, and impact of Second Harvest
• Have fun!

Time Commitment

You can schedule your ambassador activity in advance in a time that works with your schedule. We normally have 2-4 hour outreach events Monday through Friday in the morning and afternoon, with some evenings and Saturdays.
