    Description

Please Note:Our fall volunteer orientation will be an 8-hr. session scheduled on a Saturday in late October or early November. Those dates and times have not yet been solidified. We plan to have the details for our fall training confirmed by mid to late September.

The application process and online training component must be completed to be eligible to register for the in-person orientation.

Provide the comforting presence of music at bedside for patients who are receiving end-of-life care. Be part of the hospice care team, to join the physician, nurse, social worker and chaplain in providing comfort and support. Soft voiced instruments such as guitar, flute, harp, piano, violin and cello provide soothing presence as does unaccompanied voice.

The goal is to meet with the patient in their home or facility where they live to provide music once a week or once every two weeks. The schedule is flexible and based upon your availability. No physical care of the patient is involved.

Volunteers are especially needed in the Ada, Big Rapids, Caledonia, Fremont, Grand Rapids, Grandville, Holland, Lowell, Middleville, Newaygo, Rockford, and Sparta areas Note: Volunteers are asked to wait one year after the death of a family member or friend before volunteering.

We offer a flexible Volunteer Orientation program!

This training program format will allow candidates to complete some of the required training thru an on-line program at your convenience and provide additional times and locations for the in-person training component. The goal is to shorten the on-boarding process and add more flexibility in the training process making it easier for interested individuals to join our volunteer program.

We will work with you to help you join our volunteer program and start supporting patients thru out our 11 county service area!
