    Description

    Coast Guard Auxiliary

The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary is the all-volunteer part of the Coast Guard. The Auxiliary supports the Coast Guard is missions relating to recreational boating safety. We do not do law enforcement and we don't carry weapons. The Auxiliary teaches safe boating classes, assists in search and rescues, cook at the local CG Stations, inspect recreational boats for proper safety gear, radio watch standing at the local CG stations. Of course there are administration support functions that are also needed such as public affairs, publications/writing stories, secretarial duties, financial duties, information systems, website maintenance, etc. needed to run a organization. There are many branches (we call them flotillas) throughout Long Island and the entire United States. To find a local branch (flotilla) near you go to this link and search your zip code. USCGAUX: Organizational Units or just do a search in your browser "find a USCG Auxiliary flotilla".

There is also an Auxiliary Band that supports public affairs located in Ft. Salonga that is always looking for musicians (woodwind, brass, percussion).
